when I pull up my cell phone and choose to take a vacation day from the mortician job it's not available/ Not there. Help?

I have no idea whether this is a bug or a feature but it's somehow impossible for me to take vacation time when I'm in the Life and Death careers. The only time it works is if my sims have actually gone to a vacation lot. It's impossible to just take a day off work. Does anyone have this same issue? I'd love to know whether it's just me or it's a known bug. I play on PC.
I've been dealing with this basically since the pack was released! One of my Sims is in the funeral director career and if I want him to have a day off, I have to either have someone write him a note or cheat to make him sick so he has a legitimate reason not to go to work, regardless of how many "vacation days" he allegedly has.
I think I've had the same problem since release too.
