For people playing on a console there has been a bug in CAS for a long time where the buttons on the controller quit working. It’s a cas issue only and it’s extremely aggravating because there’s no way to save and the only option is to close out of the game and lose all progress. Would love to see this fixed at some point.
I have been having this happen, and it's so frustrating. A mouse doesn't work either. Can't open the box to type breed or anything. It happens in CAS constantly. I have had it happen in build mode a couple of times, but rare. And the mouse works there. CAS is mess. Makes it impossible to play. I needed to delete a kitten (a wondering cat came home pregnant and I had no idea). The controller is something imperative to game play. What happens when I want to dress a new Sim? What happens if I want to add a new horse? It does happen with all controllers. I have tried several. All of them do it.
And I forgot to say, when you come out of CAS, you can't save the game, manage worlds or travel. No menus come up for me with any visuals. It's nothing. Like, you open your phone and there is no UI. Nothing. No visuals at all. The only way to save is to click a nearby property to travel and then use a mouse to hit the checkmark, as the PS5 controller will not work with R2. Once you travel, you get an auto save so you can close the game and re-start with a working controller. Gods be good if you have to go back into CAS.
the game will stop recognizing button inputs but like weirdly selectively. for example if you're in build mode and click on an object with x it will pick it up but if you select an object from the catalog with with x and then try to place it with x it will not place. also things cannot be sold with triangle and things cannot be added to the inventory with square. and live mode you can no longer select with those same buttons X4 interaction and square for moving to inventory. I'm on console PS5 I have the latest version of the game and I own all DLC.
I’ve noticed this while building and when switching floors in homes in live mode. I’ve also had issues where the controls stop working while trying to select a world or a lot.
like yes let's put all the new topics with variating problems into things they don't fit into that have low votes from months ago like that will fix the visibility problem this site is just as dysfunctional as the game like huh?
After I edit a Custom Venue Schedule, the "X" button in Live Mode becomes completely broken and doesn't respond at all. I can't move anything from any inventory or any surface. This makes Live Mode unplayable, as having Sims manually pick everything up takes too long. If you look in the top-right of the photo, the Controls Legend says, "X Collapse/Open All Time Slots," even though the Custom Venue UI isn't open. This photo is from the bug persisting in a new save. This is a bug that has been patched previously and resurfaces when a new pack launches.

I should be able to move items like dishes and activity objects from surfaces/inventories.
✅ WHAT FIXES IT:
Once I restart my Xbox, start another game, then restart The Sims 4, I can use the X button normally again in Live Mode and move specific items for my Sims. "X Collapse/Open All Time Slots" is no longer visible in the Controls Legend and is replaced with the normal "X Live Drag Item." What gives? Why is the "X Collapse/Open All Time Slots" persisting on new saves, then vanishing once I restart?

This seems to be mostly an Xbox issue. Besides requesting PS saves, as the team come up with any alternatives to resolve this bug? Not being able to use fundamental gameplay because of dysfunctional controls seems like a pretty big issue imo. Since this affects all areas of the game (regardless of packs and pack combinations), I feel like this specific bug should be a more of a priority for the team.
On that note, I would love to provide an Xbox save if you could please give us an option to. Is there a way to access players' Xbox saves on your end through our EA ID? 💚
I noticed the following since the 150-bug update was pushed through... I went so far as to buy a new PS5 controller thinking these were caused by an old controller with a broken button but verified last night that even using the brand new controller - square button still is having the following issues:
square no longer allows cycling through color options when placing a purchasable item in build/buy mode
square no longer allows change of color when clicked on item after purchase is complete
(build buy items must now be returned and purchased from the build/buy menu one color option at a time to obtain a different color of the item)
square sometimes picks-up items with the hovering hand, this seems to be hit-or-miss, i haven't identified a true pattern of when this action fails consistently
square doesn't trigger the filter-menu in CAS to filter wardrobe options when customizing outfits for various roles of a Custom Venue
for example, when selecting the outfit for "Chef" - unable to use square to filter the CAS wardrobe options to be able to select from specific packs, specific colors, etc.
I'll update again if i find more squre-button glitches.
Im having this issue currently and its so frustrating. Makes the game so irritating. It made me think my controller was the issue but every other game I play is fine. Only in CAS. I cant click anything and it respond without clicking a billion times.
