DA Veilguard from a longtime player to Devs
I’ve got to say it straight: Dragon Age: The Veilguard is easily the best the series has ever been, and it blows Inquisition out of the water in all the ways that actually matter. Don't worry about the sales and review bombing please keep making Dragon Age games for the real players in the house. Rook is a massive upgrade as a protagonist—more defined, more emotionally grounded, and far more connected to the story. They don’t just exist to react to plot beats; they shape them. Their personality, their choices, and their relationships give the whole narrative a clarity and momentum that Inquisition never managed. The companions are on another level too—deeper, sharper, more memorable, and actually essential to the narrative instead of just orbiting around the main plot. Their arcs feel more meaningful, their interactions feel more natural, and they each bring something distinct to the story. The questlines are tighter and far more engaging. No more wandering through giant empty zones doing chores. The more focused structure gives the game a stronger sense of purpose and makes every area feel intentional and alive. Combat is a massive upgrade. It’s faster, cleaner, and just more fun. And mages? They’ve never felt this good. Finally powerful, fluid, and satisfying to play instead of clunky or underwhelming. The factions are all distinct and genuinely interesting, each with its own identity and purpose. The villains are nuanced and tied deeply into the lore, and the way Veilguard connects everything back to the history of Thedas is honestly impressive. It explains so much of what came before without feeling like a lore dump. And of course, Solas. Love him or hate him, he’s one of the most complex, well‑crafted characters in the entire Dragon Age universe. Veilguard only reinforces how layered he is—his motivations, his contradictions, his history, all of it. Few characters in the series have that level of depth or narrative weight. And look—let the haters hate. I’ve played every Dragon Age game. Dragon Age II was my favorite for years. I know this series. A lot of people still look at Origins through nostalgia‑fogged glasses, remembering a version of it that never really existed. Veilguard earns its praise because it’s actually doing the work, not because it’s coasting on old memories. And honestly, the fandom needs to support games like this. If we want more story‑driven, character‑focused RPGs, we have to show it. Otherwise we’re going to keep getting the same copy‑paste open‑world clones or yet another “MMORPG” nobody asked for. Veilguard is the kind of game that deserves to thrive so studios keep making experiences with this level of heart and craft. For me, Veilguard is the most confident, most focused, and most emotionally resonant Dragon Age yet. It’s everything I love about the series, but sharper, smarter, and finally free of the open‑world bloat that held Inquisition back.[feedback] Romances and Companion Interactions Feel Shallow
So far, I have about 100 hours in this game, I have completed the primary and side questlines, and have found that even when your Rook does engage in a locked in romance, you can completely forget about it. This is an opinion, but I do feel like Veilguard has the weakest romance aspect in any of the DA games, and that even some of the romances in Mass Effect: Andromeda seem more thought out than these, which is something I'd never thought I would say. I have heard of people being incredibly disappointed with how little thought is apparently put into the companions interactions with Rook, and not just the romantic ones, but how Rook feels like a Fly on the Wall for a lot of the game. And I hate that I somewhat have to agree. I like that the companions seek each other out and have unique conversations and dialogue, I find that very enjoyable, but what it lacks for me, is any depth or proper emotion given to the romances, or even to companion interactions with individual Rooks. I romanced Davrin, and have seen on forums that a lot of people think he has one of the better romances, and after watching the Lucanis and other romances, I would have to agree. I think this is because he tends to offer and at least somewhat reciprocate your advances through a lot of the interactions Rook and he have together, whereas with some of the others, you completely forget that you started romancing them. I was glad to see how romance could happen organically outside of Rook's choices, the Lucanis/Neve, Taash/Harding and Emmerich/Strife pairings I feel all progressed well. However, they feel as if they were given more time and effort than a single one of Rook's pairings, as they have more depth than Rook's. One of the things that I found most damaging to the romance in this game, is that you can't really interact with your romance outside of the missions that they give, like at all. In other Dragon Age games and Mass Effect games, you could typically walk up to a companion and talk to them, enter into dialogue trees, learn more about their characters and backstories and their thoughts and feelings in regards to you, other companions, or the present circumstances, and that is almost entirely missing from Veilguard. Not only this, but the reactions that the romanced character would have to certain things, such as Rook being in extreme danger, are nearly completely missing. The dialogue, and the way the romanced companion regards you outside of their missions where you can occasionally pick the Heart option, is incredibly lacking. It feels as if there is a massive chunk of the game missing just from that alone, that Rook can barely talk or interact with the companions outside of the missions they give you, and I feel like that is one of the main problems this game has. If feels like they kind of slapped and wrote a lot of the dialogue and romances together 3 months before the game release, and that is detracting from romance as a whole. Rook could romance no one, and there wouldn't really be a remarkable change or shift in hardly any of the dialogue or scenes that are given, which is a travesty for a game series that engages in player choices, both big and small. I remember in Inquisition, that I could literally just spend an hour of my time going through a couple of character's dialogue trees in Haven or Skyhold, and learn so much about them and what their experiences and thoughts were. This is not present at all in Veilguard, and has, in my opinion, done the game a great disservice.Dragon Age Inquisition broken unless you play offline (Xbox Series X)
Title is self explanatory and others have this issue. If there's a permanent fix that lets me actually use the features. That would be dope. But honestly I just came here to cyberbully EA since those cowards removed every other avenue to contact them about bugs and issues. This game is 12 years old basically... Fix it! Veilguard was such a disaster that I KNOW you lazy louts and bozos have the time. Your forums,Reddit and pretty much every single aspect of the Online realm is having this issue. And has been for YEARS. So I'm just genuinely curious as to how many Mentally Handicapped individuals are employed over at EA and why you cannot just simply port this shiznit to new servers and let us get back to playing a game that we PAID FOR without 69 and a half extra **bleep** steps. This is honestly ridiculous. Do better or just give the **bleep** IP over to an actual competent studio if such a thing even exists anymore. And I know without a doubt it's a "server handshake" issue. I've ran every step, checked every possible avenue before coming here to engage in Cyber bullying a development studio. So seriously, Fix the **bleep** game and fire the apparent overwhelming amount of idiots at Bioware..A heartbreak for a long-time fan (Review after 4 runs)
l've been playing Dragon Age since the begining and l've loved it deeply. But "The Veilguard" has left me bitterly disappointed. It feels more like a linearjump-and-run than a true RPG. The world feels restricted-where are the secrets and the real exploration? The dialogues are the biggest letdown. Dragon Age was about consequences, Dut here, feels like Coesn't matter what I lick it all leads to the same outcome. The "kick" is gone. And the omances? They feel rushed and shallow with way too little interaction. Returning characters like Morrigan are shockingly "nice" and have lost their edge. Seeing Varric die and Dorian only as a cameo feels like a slap in #h2 face for veterans. We waited so long for this? The new characters like Taash and Lucanis have so much potential, but the game doesn't let them shine because everything is "fast- paced" and simplified. The graphics and controls are great, but the soul of Dragon Age-the dark lore and the tough choices--is missing. I hope the next game returns to the roots of the Chantry, Cassandra, and the grit that made this series legendary. Constructive Criticism and Story Potential for Dragon Age: The Veilguard As a long-time fan of the series, I see a lot of untapped potential in the storytelling and the handling of established characters. Here are my suggestions on how the depth and "grit" of the predecessors could have been preserved: 1. Blackwall and the Grey Wardens: Blackwall is a character who never truly "fell" but simply went into hiding. He could have been brilliantly reintroduced as the "true" First Warden. A thrilling plot twist would have been to expose the current First Warden in The Veilguard as an impostor and a liar who is keeping the real Blackwall imprisoned somewhere. This would have massively strengthened the moral complexity of the Warden lore. 2. Dorian Pavus and the Leadership of Minrathous: Dorian is one of the strongest characters in the series, but unfortunately, he is wasted here as a mere supporting character (cameo). In Inquisition, it was hinted that he wanted to reform Tevinter. He should have acted as a shadow regent, leading Minrathous in secret. Using him only as a "placeholder" does not do justice to his potential. 3. Morrigan and the "Old Edge": Morrigan seems far too friendly and "softened" in this installment. Fans expect a certain level of aloofness and sharpness from her. It would have been narratively much more satisfying if the player had to win her over again through hard persuasion, rather than having her be so accommodating from the start. 4. Leliana and Harding's Development: The question arises: Where is the master spy Leliana? She could have been shown in "retirement," from which she must first be laboriously recruited. This would have provided a wonderful bridge to Harding: Instead of simply presenting Harding as an active member, a questline could have shown her being commissioned by Leliana. Through contact with a lyrium dagger, Harding could have undergone her own outstanding character development that leaves a lasting impact on her. 5. Cassandra and the Traces of the Chantry: Cassandra could have been reintegrated through the lore—perhaps via a questline where the player follows her trail while she investigates the history of the Chantry or the Seekers. This would have deepened the sense of world-building. 6. Varric: Fate After Death: Varric is the face of the series. His death in The Veilguard carries great weight. A fascinating possibility would have been to include him as a spirit (similar to Cole). Trapped between life and final death in the Fade, he could have continued to accompany us as a melancholic mentor. Conclusion: The graphics and controls are successful, but the soul of Dragon Age lies in hard consequences and edgy characters. I hope that future content returns more to these roots.Dragon age II ultimate edition
Hey folks. I've just redownloaded Dragon age 2. I had it on steam (User-email.com) I stopped working at some point and required a login - i tried logging in , but it says it's not associated, which is odd. I now have used the EA app, Same User-email@gmail.com & it's tried to start up but nothing popped up, though the game said it was running. I then used the task manager to close it, since closing EA wasn't possible - the prompt said, close open games first. So i closed it with the task manager. I'm able to launch the game somewhat, but it's asking for my product key - I log in with the same email above, which should be activating on two accounts, but i still cannot gain access. Please assist, if you canDAI quest "No Word Back" Can't Blow Horn No Interface
So last night i was finishing No Word Back and after i finished it i went right up to the fade rift right near it and unfortunately died and then spawned back at the horn, at the time i didn't realize it put me back right before i blew the horn, now i have noticed i need to blow the horn again but there's no pop up to blow it, i have tried leaving the region and resetting the area multiple times and it hasn't worked, id try to load a save from earlier but they are all from after the horn glitched out, anyone have any ideas to fix it or if there's a way to fix it with console commands or something like that.[PC] Camera Stutter / Hitching
I am playing the PC version of the game, and I notice a weird behavior in which the camera hitches when I move and release the joystick. If I slow pan, frames are smooth. Once I let go of the joystick, it seems like the camera skips a frame or two. I am playing at 30 fps, and I have used both PS and Xbox controllers.[Feedback] Cancel Hip fire Key bind PC
On PC, if you change "shift" from the "sprint" keybind in also changes the hidden "cancel hipfire" keybind making it impossible to leave the menu unless you reset the keybinds. Has anyone found a way to edit the keybinds in the files or find a way to contact support to see if they can add "cancel hipfire" to the list of keybinds or add it to the sprint keybind and make it a joint keybind "sprint/cancel hipfire"? This is a mistake that should have been addressed earlier. And before anyone says to just use a controller, because the game was designed for it, I haven't used a controller for anything beyond walking simulator and pokemon games, for nearly 15 years and you are missing the point. I shouldn't be forced to use a specific input. I should be able to use whatever is comfortable to me.SolvedDreadwolf: I am still hoping
Hello everyone, Yes I am one of the sad people who think that Veilguard is no Dragon Age, hear me out... The Dragon-Age Lover that I am bought myself merch of Veilguard anyways? Why? Because it is Dragon Age and I am still hoping. What would stand inbetween having Veilguard for whoever likes that AND DreadWolf as an alternative Timeline. I have the Artbook and saw all the plans originally for Dreadwolf and I sit there and just keep saying "I want to play that game!" And get sad about to what it was reduced to. I do not care that Veilguard and Dreadwolf possibly has a similar ending chapter. So be it. But for Dreadwolf? I'd love that game, some of the stuff I had seen in the Artbooks, much more story, much more gameplay, much deeper Characters, so much time to explore and enjoy Thedas. I dig that. I've played Origins through almost two dozend times (still praying for that remake), Dragon Age 2 I play that every now and then just for fun, just because I can, I have around 1000+ hours in Inquisition I play it on PC and PS4. I love them. Unfortunatelly, as much as I apprechiate the developers trying to make us happy with Veilguard, it does not feel like Dragon Age. Solid game, played it through twice. Solid game - good work devs. But not a Dragon Age, it made me miss Dragon Age while playing it. (I started a full run through all the Dragon Age games again because it teased just enough Dragon Age to miss the actual DA games.) I would love for a game where the keep actually mattered. I still look the videos from the DA Keep listening to Varric telling the story of our world. I love it, and I doubt I would be the only person that would love to play what was planned in Dreadwolf. So #PleaseGiveUsDADreadwolf ??? Thanks to everyone who read that far.DAO freeze on loading screen windows 11
I've been trying to revisit DAO after playing it years ago on an old laptop. I just got a new one with windows 11, redownloaded the game with the 4gb memory patch and followed my old mod list, however whenever i start a new game (whether it's the campaign, awakening, leliana's song, etc.) it freezes on the loading screen? The audio still works and i can still move the pc and interact but all i see is a frezon loading screen. I've set affinity to only one CPU, lowered all the graphics settings, prioritized it in the task manager and everything but it still persists. sometimes im able to get past the first cutscene by minimizing the window and reopening it, but once i transition areas or otherwise cause a new loading screen to appear it happens again.
