Phone icon not clickable-works autonomously but not via HUD (laptop, hybrid GPU)
The phone icon in Live Mode is visible but cannot be clicked. All other HUD buttons (Needs, Inventory, Simology) work. The phone does does work autonomously, but player interactions via the HUD is impossible. System: Laptop, Intel HUD+NVIDIA RTX 4050 1920x1080, UI scale 100%, Laptop Mod OFF EA App, Latest drivers Steps to Reproduce: 1.Launch Sims 4 2.Enter Live Mode 3. Attempt to click phone icon - nothing happens TRIED: Fresh folder, no mods, DX9, GPU forced to NVIDIA, repairs, cache cleared- issue persists. I started encountering this bug a few days ago when I aged up my fairy infant. I went into CAS to change her eye color to more closely resemble her father, and the change will not stick. I have gone back into CAS several times, and the change never works. I was checking if anyone else encountered this bug in the past, and I have found that a user had a similar situation about 2 yrs ago, but the post does not include the solution. I also realized from their post that this is only happening with occult eye colors. Does anyone else have a way to fix this? My family has 6 child sims in the household. Only one of them (at the moment) is bugging out. His skin is either completely blacked out and can only see his eyes, or it’s a weird colorful pattern like static behind a broken tv screen. My game had just got the newest June update right before I started playing my game so I can’t help but think it’s because of that. When I opened my game a month or two ago, it was fine. His outfits also keep randomly changing to some mismatched set that I didn’t even pick out. Mind you, me thinking this is a CAS CC issue, I keep trying to remove certain items in CAS, then when I go back to live mode, the bug is still occurring. As you can see in the pictures, his skin is all glitched out and the outfits that are showing up in the wardrobe screen in live mode are NOT the ones I’ve clearly chosen for him in CAS. All my other sims are fine though!!! It’s really annoying and I canNOT play my game like this, it will actually drive me mad. What can fix this?!??Lighting issues on objects that use the 'Cabinet' shader
For a long time, probably since the game first released, any object that uses the 'Cabinet' shader has some displeasing issues with the way that light works on it. Despite the name of the shader, this issue isn't specific to kitchen cabinets, but to wall objects that are meant to tile together seamlessly (and they use the 'Cabinet' shader to achieve that). This can be the curtain rods from the Desert Luxe Kit, modular shelves from Dream Home Decorator and the Book Nook Kit, or the pegboard from the Comfy Gamer Kit as some examples. I've personally understood that the purpose of this shader is to allow for light to work seamlessly across wall objects that are meant to tile together (which is something that the 'Phong' shader - used by the majority of objects in the game - does not allow for). The floor counterpart to this is the 'Counters' shader, which is used for tileable floor objects such as kitchen counters and modular sofas. Tileable floor and wall objects having their own specific shaders could be because of the difference in the way occluder shadows behave on them. Some CC creators actually use 'Counters' as a shader for their kitchen cabinets (because of how bad the 'Cabinet' shader is), but I guess because of the way occluders behave on a 'Counters' shader, they end up having horrible shadows cast on them when placed above a fridge. To fix this, players have to get a mod that straight up removes occluders from appliances. In the end, right now the 'Cabinet' shader does somewhat do its job (most of the time a row of cabinets on a straight wall in an evenly lit room look seamless) but it's not great, especially when comparing it to the 'Counters' shader. Here's a few examples showcasing the difference: Objects using the 'Cabinet' shader have this incredibly stark lighting going on for no apparent reason, especially when comparing it to how normal the lighting is on objects using a 'Counters' or a 'Phong' shader. I'll add that the above examples were taken with the object directly in front of the light source. When placing the modular shelves or cabinets more to the side of where the light comes, it looks more natural. There also apparent tiling issues on corners, epecially when multiple light sources are involved: All of those cabinets have the same swatch. The lighting just isn't smooth, even though it should be. Building kitchens and using modular shelves have a bit of a sour taste to it, because of how bugged the lighting seems to be on objects using the 'Cabinet' shader. The memorial portraits from the Life and Death Expansion Pack appear to be bugged as they no longer generate an image of a deceased sim, instead showing a blank white image. Extra Information: I'm on Windows 11 PC I'm on Version 1.117.227.1030 DX11 of the game. I don't have Journey to Batuu and Outdoor Retreat Game Packs, Cool Kitchen, Perfect Patio and Luxury Party Stuff Packs, Refined Living Room, First Fits, Industrial Loft, Courtyard Oasis, Country Kitchen, Throwback Fit and Fashion Street Kits.
