Sims 4 is crashing every time I select 'New Game'
I replaced the hard drive on my Macbook, and ever since I reinstalled Sims it will load up as normal but then crash when I select 'New Game.' Any suggestions for things to try would be sooooo appreciated, or even if you just know of another subreddit or forum or website or whatever that I might try! Here are some details: I have a MacBook Pro 2015. Recently I got a new hard drive and battery, and as a result the repair guys re-installed the OS as Sequoia (previously I'd had Monterey as that's the highest my 2015 computer would go). I also did not have any backups and my last hard drive fully died, so all my files and whatnot are brand new. Those are the only changes made to my computer. I am trying to install Sims 4 + 28 expansions/packs. I have included part of the error report that Apple generates after it crashes at the bottom of this. It's too long to include in full, but when I shared the same text with my dad he said "it's a segfault error" - which means nothing to me but maybe something to you. I've tried: - Playing around with the graphics and using lower settings or resolutions. - Deleting the 'Electronic Arts/Sims 4' folder in My Documents, and then repairing Sims in the EA App. I've also tried just one or the other. - Uninstalling Sims and then even the EA App, making sure all documents and files are deleted, and then reinstalling. - Uninstalling Sims, and then only re-installing the base game without any of the other content. Upgrade parts/ingredients not recognized to upgrade/create something/Can't order
Whenever I try to upgrade something, or create something (something from the fabrication station, candle station, robotic station, etc), it says I don't have the parts that are needed, even though they are in my sim's inventory. This only happens when I purchase the items, which is how I get most of my upgrade parts and all of my dyes. If my sim obtains the parts through actions like tinkering at the robotics station or receiving a part from repairing an object, then the game recognises that the sim has the part in their inventory. Houses/Lots Disappear
Issue The save game starts to disintegrate itself. Lots start to get deleted, causing endless loading, loading into empty lots. This issue has been around since the very beginning so it’s not tied to any packs. This issue possibly has a lot of different causes and hence is hard to pinpoint. There more info you have, the better. Information to provide Your platform Mod usage (Never, Removed, Yes) This is important info, not mod blaming. Are you using Memory Boost (it's only active if it's set to Enabled) This is now enabled for everyone Are you using OneDrive/iCloud ? Before and after save games. Please DM the link to EA. [RL] [GTW] Noble Sim has a title in retail shop world + home world.
Regular game. Mods and CC removed. Repaired and reset. This might be as intended. The whole Noble/Dynasty thing confuses me. Family (Mother and Son) live in Ondarion and own a Retail shop in Magnolia Promenade. - MP only has community type lots. - The son of the Family is in the Nobel career. But, he's listed as a Royal in both Magnolia Promenade and Ondarion. The son originally lived alone in Ondarion, but his mother moved in with him after his father died. The retail shop was owned by the mother's household. I had her sell the shop before she moved in with her son and then repurchase it.
Sims 4 repeatedly stuck on infinite loading screens on M4 MacBook Air
I'm experiencing intermittent infinite loading that has made The Sims 4 nearly unplayable on my Mac. The game launches normally, and I can sometimes load into Live Mode, Manage Worlds, or Build Mode. However, even if I can do that, within minutes of playing, one of the loading transitions becomes stuck indefinitely. The plumbob and loading screen keep moving, and the music keeps playing, but the game never finishes loading, so I have to force-quit it. The same transitions might work once or twice and then fail on the next attempt. This has happened when: Going from Live Mode to Manage Worlds Returning from Build Mode on a non-household lot to Manage Worlds Traveling between lots Loading into Live Mode after CAS Reopening a save Mac specifications: 2025 MacBook Air Apple M4 chip 16 GB memory macOS 26.6, build 25G72 I first repaired The Sims 4 through the EA app. Then I let the game generate a completely new Sims 4 folder and tested a brand-new vanilla save and household without adding any of my previous files. I then completely uninstalled The Sims 4, cleared the EA app cache, restarted the Mac, and downloaded the game again from scratch. The problem still occurs with no mods or custom content, a completely fresh Sims 4 folder, brand-new saves and households, every pack deactivated, and only the three base-game worlds available. I have additionally tested the following: A different macOS user profile macOS Safe Mode Fullscreen and Windowed display modes Vertical Sync on and off Lowered graphics settings Laptop Mode Autosave disabled A fully updated version of macOS Adjusted Privacy & Security permissions and restarted Disabled iCloud syncing for Desktop and Documents so the active Sims 4 folder is local Running Apple Diagnostics The game doesn't create a lastException.txt or lastCrash.txt when it becomes stuck. My sim deactivated the cleaner bot and placed it on the robotics station. The cleaner bot then started hovering and disappeared. I cannot interact with the missing cleaner bot but the robotics stations still acts as if it were there. I have tried restarting the game, resetting the robotics station, and attempting to sell the robotics station (it won’t let me sell). After installing the Island Living DLC and going to its map, visiting other lots is broken. The interior is missing and the walls only collapse if going very close to the ground (see screenshots). When on my own lot everything works fine. I already reinstalled the DLC and used the repair feature to no success. The game is installed through the EA App on a MacBook Air M4. Thanks for your help!
[GTW] Lost Interrogation Progress
My sim was in the middle of interrogating a suspect in the Detective status when all of a sudden the game glitched and I had to restart the entire interrogation. Every since the latest bug updated last week, my sims can no longer choose to work from home - the pop-up to choose just doesn't pop-up anymore. Also the school pop-ups from parent hood, don't show up either. The game just automatically chooses an answer and I only get the pop-up about how my kid's characters values have changed. Naturally I'm still getting calls other players inside my house asking me to go to Camp Gibby Gibby and Love Island. 🙄 I'm on Mac. The only Mods / CC I have is one pair of eyelashes.[BH] Unable to visit Sims with small businesses
When you visit a sim's house/small business lot, you "have" the option to visit the sims or the businness, whether I visit the sims from the phone, or by clicking on the house when I am in the neighborhood, it puts me as a customer, so I cannot visit the sims or go into the residential areas. I even tried to break into a small business owner's house and the game crashed. This isnt a one time thing either, it's been going on probably since Businesses and Hobbies launched, and it affects more than one save if not all. Edit By crinrict: Added pack tag to title.
