My sim has purchased a restaurant which inconsistently results in the “error for game to load 123” code. I have tried removing my mods, bulldozing the lot and replacing it and the issue still persists. It is inconsistent and difficult to know what is triggering the issue.

Generally bugs still open in the archive do not need to be re-reported unless you have new info.
I assume your full error is 123:20ece5dd ? Please let me know if it's different. For Error Codes the first two parts are always important.
Do you have any placements (drawings) ? Those are usually the culprit for this error.
I am having this problem with a restaurant that I have built and then rebuilt (without CC or mods).
I can enter from manage worlds and build but as soon as I take a sim there I get the crash and the 123:20ece5dd error. (I put Better exeptions back in and it is throwing a LE stating restaurant zone director)
I made another restaurant which works absolutely fine, the difference with the two is I heavily used the Party Essentials kit on the second.
No placemats as I've not succesfully got it running yet.
Do you have any LastException files in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 ?
Best is to delete the ones you have, then trigger the error and check if new ones are created.
If that is the case, please copy/paste the content here. You can open the file with any text editor.
Deleting the file won't fix your issue. Uploading the file is meant for troubleshooting.
