Hello everyone. Please see below for answers to common questions surrounding VR support for DiRT Rally 2.0, along with a guide to help players improve the feature's performance on their system. Frequently-Asked Questions Is DiRT Rally 2.0 the same on Steam and Oculus? DiRT Rally 2.0 on the Oculus Store stand-alone version of the game, and is not included with purchase of the game on Steam. The Oculus version provides native support to Oculus devices through the Oculus SDK. The Steam version uses the SteamVR platform to support VR devices. Can I play with Steam players while using the Oculus version, and vice-versa? All versions of DiRT Rally 2.0 provide support for cross-platform asynchronus play (which players can opt out of in their game settings). This includes Leaderboards, Clubs and Community Challenges. Synchronous (as in PvP) Multiplayer is platform-specific. Steam players cannot join Oculus Lobbies, Xbox players cannot join PlayStation Lobbies etc. Does the Oculus version have DLC? The Oculus version contains the same base-game content as other platforms. Post-release DLC content that was available on other platforms will come to Oculus at a later date. Free content (like the DirtFish location and liveries) are available on Oculus at the same time as other platforms. Does the Oculus version have exclusive content? A number of cars feature an exclusive, Oculus-themed livery on the Oculus version. Additional Daily, Weekly and Monthly Community Challenges are available in My Team, exclusive to Oculus players. Will VR come to PlayStation? There are no plans to implement PlayStation VR support for DiRT Rally 2.0. Does DiRT Rally 2.0 Support Windows Mixed Reality headsets? DiRT Rally 2.0 does not natively support WMR headsets, however they may still potentially work through Steam VR. If you're using a WMR headset through Steam VR, smooth performance is not guaranteed. Recommended Settings Based on our tests, these are the settings we recommend to give the best performance boost: Ambient Occlusion: Off Ground Cover: Off Shader: Low Screenspace Reflections: Off Anti-Aliasing: Off Initial Performance (graphics preset; Medium): 60-67 FPS Results after Recommended Settings: Over 90 FPS+ - Medium graphics preset plus all of the above changes. Slightly under 90FPS - Medium graphics preset plus all of the above changes, Shader Detail on High For reference, here was our PC build with which we tested each setting: GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 CPU: Intel Core i7 6700k, 4.0 GHz Version: Steam (using Oculus headset) Depending on your hardware, PC build & peripherals, and their settings, performance may differ so please experiment with these settings until you find what works best for you. Conclusions These are what we consider high performance savers. Lowering these settings will significantly increase performance (in order of impact): Shaders: Low Anti-Aliasing: Off/CMAA Crowds: Low/Off Ambient Occlusion off Trees, Bloom, Light Streaks, Godrays (These help a lot in areas dense with trees) Shadows: Off (or as low as possible) Ground Cover: Off Screenspace Reflections: Off, lower overall reflections settings too will help. We recommend not using Multisampling (or lower values), it is costly in VR. Supersampling methods from SteamVR would be more beneficial if you can run them. These are low performance savers and won't make much difference if you're using them under Medium, but lowering them all may save a few frames: Vehicle Details (Note: Ultra Low removes drivers and other elements, so use it if nothing else is working for you) Texture Detail Track Night Lighting Objects Chromatic Aberration, Lens Dust Anisotropic Filtering (performance gain is negligible compared to High) With our Recommended Settings and some minor tweaks, performance on Steam should be similar to that of Oculus. We increased our framerate from 60-67 FPS up to 90 FPS+ with the Recommended Settings, using the GTX 1060 in our reference build. If you have a higher-end graphics card you may be able get similar performance with Shader Details set to High and other settings on Low/Off. So long as you don’t increase Multisampling, and ensure you play in Windowed Mode on a reasonable resolution, you should see notable performance gains. VR gameplay will sync to 45 FPS if it drops below 90 FPS, so it's important to keep it the framerate high for a smooth experience. Other Notes On Steam DiRT Rally 2.0 will try to run normal setting configs, typically in fullscreen on higher presets by default. Fullscreen isn't recommended as it can cause issues with performance (upping resolution) and stretch UI elements. We're working on a fix for this in a future update; a workaround for now is to disable fullscreen in the hardware settings: C:\Users\ YOUR NAME HERE \Documents\My Games\DiRT Rally 2.0\hardwaresettings\hardware_settings_config.xml ‘ fullscreen="0” ‘ You can also change the resolution here; another quick way is to change these settings in the flatscreen mode before going into VR. Incase you didn't know, in the Gameplay settings (which can also be accessed via the pause menu) there is a tab for VR Comfort. This contains options for the following: Enable all Views Enable Right Stick Camera Control Enable Looking Back Enable Locked Orientation Enable Motion Blur Full View During Crashes Known Issues The following is a (non-exhaustive) list of known issues with VR: 4x MSAA and higher, combined with Shader Detail set to Low, causing outline effect on trees. Ambient Occlusion set to Low causing shadowy effects on nearby objects. DiRT Rally 2.0 automatically running in VR mode if you have any VR peripherals (including sensors) connected while SteamVR is installed. (This is set to be resolved in version 1.8) Vive HMD resets position slightly behind head. Text being hard to read in SteamVR Pause screens. There are more known issues than this, however many are too minor to post here. As always the team is actively reading the forums to see how you're all getting on with the game.EA_Kent3 years agoCommunity Manager13KViews0likes0CommentsHow to create and join Clubs

Over the last while we've seen issues where players on Steam report stuttering and general FPS issues, and after investigating it a bit further we wanted to put together a short guide to help with this. WARNING: Change these settings at your own risk and use common sense before committing to them. Some changes as some may adversely affect your playing experience. Please also note that any graphics card setting changes will affect all of your games and not just DiRT Rally 2.0. Windows PC users: Disable Game Bar in Windows Settings. Disable "Steam overlay while in-game" in Steam settings. Make sure "Compatability Mode" is disabled on the .exe file for DiRT Rally 2.0. Enable Vsync and verify that the Frame Rate setting is at 60hz. If you're using an NVIDIA graphics card: In NVIDIA GeForce experience settings: Disable in-game overlay. In NVIDIA Control Panel > Configure Surround > PhysX: Select your graphics card in PhysX. In Manage 3D Settings: Find DiRT Rally 2.0 in programs (most likely under Steam) > [Add] In the settings for the program select the following: . CUDA - GPUs: [Use these GPUS] > Choose your graphics card model. . Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames: 1 . Power Management mode: Prefer Maximum Performance . [Apply] In-game: Graphics: Set [Crowd] to anything below [Ultra]. Ensure that multisampling is set to an appropriate setting for your PC spec. Additional tips: Remove all non-essential USB devices (including wheels and VR equipment) before launching. Once the game is launched plug in the devices you wish to use. Alternatively you can disable all non-essential USB HID devices through the following steps: Device Manager > Human interface devices Right-click on the relevant USB devices and select [Disable]. If you were having stuttering or FPS issues before this, please try the above and share your results in this thread.EA_Kent3 years agoCommunity Manager9KViews1like4CommentsDiRT Rally 2.0 - Patch Notes

Product: GRID Legends Platform:Steam-PC Summarize your bug n/a Please specify your platform model. Steam Did you have cross-play enabled? Yes In what game mode did the bug occur? Offline Career How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%) Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? n/a What happens when the bug occurs? n/a What do you expect to see? n/a I'll try to compile the list of things not working or working really bad in Grid Legends, starting with the basic game menu interface. Project Cars 3 was often criticised for 'ugly menus' (which to me, is very dumb thing to criticize in a race game). Grid Legends might have a prettier menu graphics, but boy, this interface is laughably unusable in its current state. So pay your respects to PC3, as it's a way more polished product than the newest Grid. I'm playing on Steam and I'm only going to list stuff that I personally experience. If you guys have annything to add here, pleaes do. Current feedback on this forum seems to be all over the place, that's why I'm creating this thread. This approach seemed to work really well on Grid 2019 support forums, I hope I'll get some traction here also. I might expand this list, when I run into new bugs. I won't be posting any screenshots or videos with proof, compiling this takes too much of my time anyway. Here we go: 3. GAME IS IGNORING YOUR TEAM NAME [not fixed in 5.0] In Team Profile, you are able to customize your time, which includes naming it. You can name it whatever you want, but during career races, it will always say 'Player Team' on all the standings lists. What is the point of naming my team then? Patch 3.3 shows the correct team name in pre-race gridwalk, but in the standings it's still broken - showing 'player team' No changes with 4.0. 4. HYPERACTIVE CONTROLLER TRIGGERS IN GARAGE MENU [not fixed in 5.0] In Garage, you can scroll through the list of cars using left and right analog triggers. Unfortunately, game takes input from them even on a 1% press, which sometimes causes that menu to scroll by itself, I had to configure deadzones for my triggers to avoid this, I think game interface should only act when the trigger is pressed to 50% or even more, to avoid potential issues. 6. SPONSORS AND THEIR OBJECTIVES MAKE NO SENSE [feedback needed] Game is not tracking and//or displaying the sponsor objective progress correctly. Individual objectives like 'drive kilemeters' or 'finish races in front of teammate' do not track progress correctly. Sometimes they don't progress at all, sometimes they do track, but then revert back after some time. Sponsor also has issues tracking the number of completed challenges. You need 3 to complete the sponsor contract, but you can often complete it with 2/3 or even 1/3 score. Sometimes with 3 completed objectives will not conplete the sponsor, and it will show 2/3 or 1/3. It's all over the place, and after all those patches there are still issues with this. In 4.0, 3 new sponsors were added, one of them started with 1/3, one objective already completed, despite me never playing the DLC content... Changing sponsors will give you 'all others will be reset' warning, though it does not reset the other sponsors, they still remain on 1/3, 2/3 or even 3/3. 7. CAREER EVENTS WON'T ALLOW YOU TO DO STUFF WITH YOUR CAR [not fixed in 5.0] Some events in Career mode give you a loan car which you have to race. I understand that you are not able to upgrade this car or repaint it, but still, clicking on the event from the menu instantly takes you to the race, which is very confusing. This applies to many of the first races in every category, for example - Lotus Cup Event 1 - single make series, you can only drive Lotus - Clio Cup Event 1 - single make series, you can only drive Clio - Super Modified Event 1 - different car in the series, but you are given a Civic - TC-G Event 1 - different car in the series, but you are given an Astra But there are also events that give you the choice of the car from the start (for example: GT Class 3 Event 1), which is very inconsistent. You just never know what happens when you click on Event 1 - will you be taken to car selection screen, or just instantly to the race, with an unknown car? Please, set a standard here. ALWAYS show us the car which we'll be driving in the event, regardless if it's a choice or not. If it's a forced loan car, I would really like just to see what I'll be driving. Otherwise, I can only know while already standing on the grid. 10. FINISHING A CAREER RACE TAKES YOU BACK ONE (MORE LIKE TWO) SCREEN TOO FAR [not fixed in 5.0] So in Career, you select Rookie, then Touring, then do a race there. After finishing, I expect to be taken back to Touring event choice, so I can continue there and complete the category. Unfurtunately, game takes you back to the Career main screen, where I have to pick Rookie again, and then find Touring again, and then find the next event. It happens every single time, after finishing any Career event. This might be a small thing, but when trying to complette a category in one sitting, it can be frustrating, as you takes you out from your game loop. 17. WEEKLY/MONTHLY CHALLENGES DO NOT LET YOU DO STUFF TO YOUR CAR [not fixed in 5.0] This is similar to issue #7, but worse. When clicking on a weekly or monthly challenge, you are taken straight to that challenge, and you won't even know which car you will drive. After the event loads, you can check what car you're driving. And since car upgrades work in this mode, there is a chance that the car you are given is NOT UPGRADED, which will ruin your performance. So you need to quit the event, go to garage, check the car there and upgrade it, and then go back to the event. Please, after clicking the event, show us what car are we driving, and allow us to paint/clean/tune/upgrade, just as in most of the career events. 22. PRE-RACE AND POST-RACE STANDINGS SCREENS BOTH DISPLAY FALSE NEMESIS INFORMATION [not fixed in 5.0] Pre-race screen is always showing a clean field of drivers, noone is my nemesis. Post-race screen is always showing that every single driver except for me and my teammate is both rival and nemesis (purple + red icons. It does not matter how many real nemesis I have at the start and the end of the race. Both screens are just giving wrong info. 23. UNABLE TO SCROLL THE SPONSOR MENU WITH A GAMEPAD [not fixed in 5.0] DLC2 added 3 new sponsors. The sponsor choice menu now has 4 rows, and the icons do not fit on the screen. There's a scrollbar on the right, but you can only use it with a mousewheel or a mouse pointer. Seems like there's no way to scroll the sponsors with a controller. 24. 'PROGRESS' TAB SHOWS INCORRECT INFORMATION ABOUT COMPLETED SINGLE PLAYER CONTENT [not fixed in 5.0] This one is kinda big, I don't know how I didn't notice that earlier. You can access this screen from the HOME tab, and clicking on PROGRESSION or from the TEAM tab -> TEAM PROFILE -> PROGRESS. Why this is called progress in one place, and progression in other - I wish I knew 🙂 So, when opening that progression screen, you can see lots of stats. Some of them are correct (like teammate upgrades bought or story events completed) but lots of them are just wrong: - career events completed - this one is all over the place, let's look at the details: touring - 42/51 tuner - 34/41 gt - 38/46 track day - 39/52 open wheel - 24/28 trucks - 25/35 electric - 23/29 drift - 8/19 demolition derby being the only one shown correctly, at 11/11 - cars purchased - shown wrong, 138/145 Game probably thinks that there is way more events in the game that we really have, that's why it shows this info here and the wrong info on the career tab. 25. CANCELED LAPTIME NO LONGER SHOWN ON THE HUD If you invalidate your lap (mostly because going off track) your current laptime should be shown in red color. After 5.0, it's just shown normally, in white, pretending to be valid. Then you finish the lap and have no idea why it didn't count... very painful for time attack events..7.8KViews11likes66CommentsCannot turn the car's on real racing 3
