Still same issue.
I want to add that problems started with update to Android 8.
But this app is the only one that gives me problems. - update
After a couple of crashes it seems that the situation has improved (this after deleting the application data).

- I have had the exact same issues; I contacted support and for some reason they redirected me to the forums.
I have a OnePlus 3T, 6GB of RAM, lots of free space, the phone is not rooted, the Internet connection is good, running the latest OS version (OxygenOS 5 which is Android 8). Tried cleaning both cache and game data, tried reinstalling, closing background apps but nothing helped. I've been experiencing crashes since late November and they seem to intensify during TB and TW events for whatever reason. - Unfortunately, the problem has returned.
Also I'm having problems with another bug, I do not know if related to this.
When I win a battle with 15/20 seconds remaining, it gives me battle won but I remain in the same position.
I've already lost 600 crystals because of this bug. - EA_Darko

But the problem persists. - After a year of almost zero crashes, I get several crashes/freeze/video-failure (where sound and buttons continue to work) a day. I'm on Oneplus5 with Android 8. Problems started around the time of the 2nd-to-last big game update.
- This happens many times per day, worse during TW. I always send reports in.
@cg any chance of a fix? Any updates? It's been a while and I still experience this issue, and although I can still play it's quite a hassle to restart the game 30 times a day. Also, the game crashes at times when my screen locks -then I unlock it and surprise! game restarts even if I was in battle or something.
