Re: Taxes on subscriptions.

EA/BioWare have no influence over taxes.

They do not take that from you, your government do. The price EA/BioWare states is correct, you need to complain to your government about this one, taxes being a government levy and all.

CS cannot help you there.

On the subscription page it states:

Total is VAT/GST inclusive where applicable

Below all the subscription choices.  Then before you even complete your order if you read the fine print below it says:

By making your subscription purchase today, you authorize EA to automatically charge the then-current renewal subscription fee (plus applicable taxes or inclusive of applicable taxes based on billing address) to your credit or debit card or other available payment method on each renewal date without any additional action by you.

Then at the very bottom of the page it states:

Sales tax may apply for your region. Click here for details.

The link it goes it states:

When will I see a charge on my credit card?

You will see a charge on your credit card the day after placing your purchase. It will appear as Electronic Arts - Origin on your statement.

You may see a small transaction appear on your account's online statement within a day or two of any pre-order purchase or update to your stored payment method. These are temporary transactions we use to verify the payment information. The transactions automatically reverse within seven business days.

Applicable sales taxes will be added to the price you see when placing your order.

As @Dassvidanja stated above, this is a tax charged and collected based on local government rules for sales tax.  This money does not go to Bioware or EA but your local government.

VAT/GST does not exist in the USA

The link that supposedly goes to state tax information does not.

This is better than the jabberwocky I got from swtor support but not much.

"The price is $41.97 plus tax" would have been sufficient.

    But it wasn't there.

    And it still isn't.

I would * at my local taxing authority but I have NO IDEA which taxing authority to * at.

For all I know it's just a fee made up by SWTOR to increase their prices without increasing their prices.

The same could be said about any online website that charges you taxes for digital goods. There are taxes for monthly fees and Swtor is not the first and only game to do this. I've played other games that also charged a tax for a monthly fee. It's not something new.

As far as taxing authority that is something you'd have to Google.

Also as far as only the sub page mentions CST. The other pages specifically mention Sales Tax for your region or just say applicable tax.
