Re: Server lag

@NassikDabak

Oh you have a line issue alright your connect speed is only 1Mbps up and 1Mbps down <-- Bad

Line Rate: 0.92 Mbps 0.91 Mbps

Edit - Give iinet a call , based on just the connect speed they should acknowledge a line fault exists after running you through an isolation test.

After you get this fixed when you log into the iinet portal, there will be profiles you can set your connection too, Can Set yours to fast (after the line is fixed) this will lower the SNR margin to 9.0dB by memory and give you the best download rate for your long line. (do not use gamer it lowers speed and given your link is not worth it).

IInet do not go lower then 9.0dB and usually set 12dB , Telstra in comparison set 6.0 dB which can result in a slightly faster connection.

Mind all this wont matter when you transfer to the NBN 🙂

    Is there anything I can do about my connect speed or is that an iiNet issue?

    Of additional note, there are two computers using the modem (simultaneously) in my house.

    Lodge a line fault with iinet , only they can assist to get this sorted, is there any noise on the phone line ? if so lodge it as a noisy phone line instead. (quicker to get fixed ....)

    You will be a lot happier after they fix this, your download rate will at minimum likely be 5 times quicker

    Thank you for your responses and input.  You have been very helpful. And yes, the phone has  background noise.

    The NBN isn't scheduled to rollout here until January - June 2019 so I won't hold my breath for that solution.  🙂

    let me know how you get on with iinet, they are usually pretty good once you get past the initial call center person.

    Least with a line fault you know it can be fixed and internet can get better before 2019 🙂

    @NassikDabak

    Two choices

    1. is ring whoever owns the phone number (if not iinet) , eg if Telstra, line should be covered by a CSG see link , this only applies to fixing a phone line not an internet connection.

    2. is ring iinet and lodge as an internet issue

    Both ways will get this fixed either way 😉

    The phone is through iiNet.  It was cheaper to get the internet and phone as a bundle.

    Give them a call , if the phone is covered by a CSG (if you didnt waive your rights on the bundle) if you lodge it as a phone fault , there is compensation potentially available once past the allotted repair time period of around 48 hours. it can go up to $50.00 a day compensation after 5 days in most cases.....

    But this is up to you, lodging the fault as internet whilst doesn't have the same pressure on them, most cases they are pretty good getting it fixed.

    iiNet has been called.  Now I wait to hear from a technician to come and check things out.

    iiNet came out and did discover a fault with the line. They sorted it and my connection hasn't dropped when playing since then. I'm getting approximately 300 ms.

    Hi,

    You may have iiNet Modem Problem or Your iiNet modem not working properly. This thing will also happen with me but don't get frustrated you can either take the help for iiNet Support Team or You can change the modem. Apply this you will definitely get the benefit.

    Thanks
