hi,
i’m currently having an issue where, in build mode, after i select an item, the game will deselect it before I can place it, or sometimes even before i can move my cursor.
it has only started today and means i cannot build. i am on console, have tried opening and closing build mode itself, saving the game and coming back to it from the main menu, etc., nothing has helped so far.
Same but on laptop - I found that quickly placing the item and then moving it works however it’s not convenient! No answers in googled, joint a discord server. Going to try and remove CC see if that works? I bulldozed my lot and tried to place something that worked so might just be a case of the lot size, items etc being too much for the computer? Would love for anyone to share ideas on how to fix this?
Same here it's only happening to growing together update items to me it seems hopefully it can get fixed soon!!
Community ManagerAre you using a mouse and keyboard, or are you playing with a controller?
Please test this without any mods/CC in your game, and let me know if it's working for you then- Try moving your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Once you've done that, test the game.

playing on controller!! however, the issue appears to be gone now? i didn’t do anything to it so not sure what the solution was
I had the same problem. I discovered that if you have an infant on the floor you can't build. Put the infant in a crib then you should be able to build like normal.

I've had this on and off since Patch 1.69.
It's a strange one to explain and I'm finding it impossible to capture it happening but I'll do my best to describe what happens in my game. So I've had it happen on Xbox Series S and then on my brand new Xbox Series X which I've been using for just a couple of weeks. It happens to any item in any category, whether it's decor or objects. I select an item, it's highlighted as selected then I go to place it but I hear that sound effect you get when you press Back. It's a kind of whoosh sound and the item is gone and it's no longer selected. I have to do it again and it works a second time.
I don't know if it's the same for everyone but that's as best as I can describe it. It behaves as if I've cancelled the action.
In other instances which may or may not be related I occasionally find that I've got a green or red outline instead but no item. My cursor just appears to be placing an invisible square. I did manage to get an image of that and it's attached. This has also happened on both consoles.

@EA_SolaireHi, yes I'll do that no problem. It's not as frequent since last weeks patch but still happening some of the time.
Edit: I've filled out a bug report and attach a link. I tagged it as XB for now but I know it's affecting other platforms too so I was a bit unsure if I was right to do that or not, here it is anyway:
