Re: How do I move Sims 4 progress from my Mac to my Windows 10?

@frankiesdoll  Please move the Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  Launch the game, which will create a new folder; start a new save, play for a couple minutes, save your progress, and quit.  Reload the game to make sure the save is still present.  If it's not, or if you get an error trying to move files around, please stop here and let me know.

Otherwise, you can copy the files inside the saves folder from the old Sims 4 folder (the one you moved over from your Mac) to the new one in Documents\Electronic Arts.  The same goes for the contents of Tray.  It's better to move the individual files rather than their folders.  Load the game and see whether your content is present.

It keeps saying there's a mod that needs to be removed. I deleted the mod, but I still keep getting the error. What do I do?

@frankiesdoll  Move the entire Mods folder to your desktop, delete localthumbcache.package, and see whether the game works.  If it does, the mod files were probably corrupted on transfer from your Mac.  You can transfer them again, but first, zip the entire Mods folder (right-click, Compress).

Once the .zip file is on your PC, extract it (right-click, Extract), put one mod in the new Mods folder that will have been created, and test.  If the game is still fine, you can add the rest of your mods.

If you still get an error even after removing the Mods folder, please post a screenshot of the exact error you're seeing.

@frankiesdoll  You saw this error with the entire Mods folder removed?  It's possible that you opened the OneDrive version of Documents rather than the one stored on your computer.  To make sure, open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, double-click your C drive, then open Users > your username > Documents etc.

If that doesn't help, move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, again going through the This PC path.

@frankiesdoll  Again, please move the entire Mods folder to the desktop, delete localthumbcache.package (in the same Sims 4 folder), and test.  You can deal with adding back your mods later.

If you still get the error, please move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and test again.

@puzzlezaddict I... don't know how but I fixed it? I just made a new Mods folder, added all the CC there then moved it to my Sims 4 folder. Thank you so, so much

@frankiesdoll  That's great to hear.  There are a few different possible causes for the issue, including a corrupt Mods folder, as in, the folder itself, which forcing the game to create a new one would fix.  But the important thing is that it works now.

Hey I’m having this same issue. I compressed while I was transferring from my Mac. A zip folder came up. Do I put the zip folder in the windows mod folder then extract ? I’m so confused lol thanks for the help!
