Would it be worth it at all to try uninstalling TS4 itself? It's just such a hassle I don't really want to try it if it's unlikely to help
@garlicxbride It could help, sure. You then wouldn't need to update the game. If you can't install again, clear the EA App's cache:

Restart your computer, and try installing into a different folder, one that you create for just this purpose. Be sure to use a folder on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine, but not C:\Program Files\Games.
Uninstalling the game worked because it helped me find a possible cause. While uninstalling it, I found that a file in my The Sims 4 folder had been corrupted. For me specifically, it was Delta > EP03. So if anyone else still has the problem, I'd recommend checking the drive that your game is on. You can do this by right-clicking the drive, choosing "properties" and then from there "tools". I'm not entirely sure if that was the actual cause but it can't hurt to scan your drive for errors regardless. If the problem persists then maybe that was just a coincidence and you should just uninstall but that's what worked for me.
Thanks for all the help regardless!
