Re: Sims 4 Freezing when Exiting on PC

@Ally_waz_Here96  Your dxdiag (thanks for providing it, by the way) shows a number of failed Windows updates, so it's best to clean those up even if the issue is unlikely to directly cause any Sims 4 issues.  Please start with a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

  • Hit Windows key-X
  • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
  • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
  • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
  • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
  • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
  • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
  • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

For Sims 4 itself, try pausing OneDrive syncing before you play.  You can access the option by right-clicking the OneDrive (cloud) icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.

If that doesn't help, please let me know whether this problem happens every time, or only when you've been playing for a certain amount of time.  Please also let me know what antivirus you use.

I've also been having this problem. And it'll go to a black screen as if it's about to close and then it'll freeze. I've attached my dxdiag and I've followed the steps you listed previously just in case that was also my issue. After validation it didn't throw an error and it got to 100% successfully.

This is the message I got after running "sfc /scannow":

    • Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

I restarted my computer and had no new updates to install. I don't use OneDrive on this pc. I've been getting this issue ever since I updated for the new patch with Horse Ranch.

@ExpiredDollies  Thanks for the dxdiag and for running DISM and sfc.  Your dxdiag shows a handful of Sims 4 errors that could be related to the graphics driver.  The driver you have installed is only a couple months old, but try updating it anyway.  Here's the newest driver:

    https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/209266/en-us/

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Choose the Custom (not Express) install, and check the box to perform a clean install.  Restart your computer when you're done.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and let me know if you see the same issue when you try to quit.

@puzzlezaddict I updated my drivers as you said and it worked! I tried it without mods and with mods and the game is back to closing like normal. Thank you so much for the help!
