Crash

So after the last update my game crashes after 1 hour. It's been years since last time that happend to me. I decided to repair the game 2 days ago and today, just few minues ago, I played the game and it crashed after 10 minutes. I can't play it at all. I hate this!!

  • vibekem93  What was the context of the crash: what lot were you playing on, what were your sims doing, that kind of thing?  Do you use mods or custom content, and if so, does it help to remove the Mods folder?  You wouldn't need to save your progress; this is just a test.

If the game crashes with no mods or custom content, please also provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I was in an Enchanted by nature world in a residential lot. I don't have mods or cc. I uninstall and install the game and then I try to play it again and it crashed after 3 minutes. My sim was about to eat food. Like I've mentioned before, this crash only happend after the latest update.

  • vibekem93  Please update the driver for your graphics chip.  You can find the newest driver here:

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/processors/ryzen/ryzen-5000-series/amd-ryzen-7-5700u.html

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer afterwards and before doing anything else.

If you get another crash, please switch back to DirectX 11 mode.  If you chose DX9 mode in the game options, uncheck that box and restart.  If you forced it in the EA App or Steam, remove the -dx9 command line argument.

If you get another crash in DX11 mode, please list the exact lot you were playing on.  Please also look for a lastcrash in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  I'd only want the newest one (in DX11 mode, after updating the graphics driver).  You can open it and delete its first line, then attach it to your reply; or you can copy the text and paste it into your reply.  Either way, please make sure the reply and possible attachment are visible after you post, as this site's spam filter sometimes acts up, and I wouldn't want to miss your post because of that.  If it does disappear, you can click the Report button on the original post to ask someone to look for a reply caught in the spam filter.
