You may need to enable something like "overclocked mode" in your monitor settings if the default refresh rate is 120Hz for example.

Posting your monitor make and model will help if you do not find an overclock mode.

    BenQ XL2730. I know I can run the 144hz non natively because I did so in the latest call of duty but they had the command in game to do so. It will run it if I set my background to 1080p but I have to be in windows mode which causes lag.
