  • Just wanted to say I'm having this issue as well and can't seem to fix it.

  • First, I don't think this is an EA issue, more like a Windows Defender issue. I do get the cpu spike opening (some) other programs. I didn't have this issue before I uninstalled Avast Free antivirus. I tried some of the suggestions offered here, but nothing worked for me.

Here is what seems to be (so far) working for me: reinstall a third party anti-virus. I installed Bitdefender Free, and so far so good, no more waiting 5 minutes for the cpu usage to go down.

I posted this issue on reddit and someone posted this response:

If anyone still has this problem and find this post when googling, I have found the solution (works for me at least).

    Open Control Panel

    Open System and security

Click Allow an app or feature through windows defender firewall

Click 'Change settings' then 'Allow another app'

Add EasyAntiCheat.exe from the programfilesx86 folder (my path C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat)

This solved the problem with 100% success rate for me after none of any other tips on google worked.

Here is the link. If it works for you, go rep them. https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/gnvmlu/season_5_and_windows_defender_results_in_100_cpu/

@EL-Lucky_Loco As the steps say, Control Panel > Systems and Securtiy. If you do not see it, change your filter to categories (top right).
