Re: Dragon Age: Origins: Darkspawn Chronicles Ogre's Keeper Achievement Glitch

In the battle in the Palace District, when your Ogre is trapped behind the gate on one side and you have to fight your way across from the other, there are TWO ogres in your immediate vicinity.  You can enthrall the wrong one and continue the rest of the way without even realizing it.   (Been there.  Done that.)

What Worked for Me
I did find a thread somewhere that finally helped me out. I don't remember where it was, but here's what it had me do. I played the dlc all over again, deleting all previous saves marked "Hurlock Vanguard" before starting anew. Just before exiting the Elven Alienage, I saved. Once the ogre was removed from my party, I headed right and defeated the first group of soldiers. Once they are defeated you can see a single ogre trapped behind a gate, but you can't get to him because of a flaming barrier blocking your path. By standing just behind this barrier, you can attempt to enthrall the ogre before you continue.

- If the ogre is just standing there and you can enthrall him (he is added to your party), this is NOT the correct ogre. Reload your save in the alienage and try again.

- If the ogre is banging on the gate and you cannot enthrall him (try it and nothing will happen), ***THIS IS YOUR OGRE***. Continue around, unlock the gate, and enthrall him. Don't wait for the other one to come around once you unlock the gate.

It took me 3 reloads before I finally could not immediately enthrall the ogre behind the gate in this manner. I then continued around and unlocked the gate, enthralled this ogre, completed the rest of the dlc with him alive; trophy unlocked!

Damn, still nothing! I appreciate the help though Thandal. This achievement is getting incredibly frustrating, it seems to just be based on luck. And this game is old enough that I highly doubt any sort of patch will be released to fix this. Appreciate the attempt though Thandal.

  • Not luck. I bet there really is a way to tell the two ogres apart. Just never looked that closely at the original one 'cuz I never knew it might matter later.

Let "my" ogre get killed the first time through. Enthralled the wrong one the second time 'round. Got the badge on the third.
