[RESOLVED] - EA app Error Code EC:204

As of June 26, 2023 every time I launch the EA App and go offline and than try to launch the Sims 4 game I get this error code: ec:204 with the message to go online to renew the license. I have tried to fix it but I have failed.

I tried to:

-Clear the Ea app cache

- Update the Ea app

-Repair game

-restart the pc numerous of times

Is there any other way to fix this error? and how can I renew the license of an already bought game? Thanks.

    Hello everyone, 

    Many thanks for the continuous reports.

    The EA app dev teams have investigated the issue and have released an update for the EA app client that should fix the EC:204 error. 

    The fix for the issue is incorporated in EA app version 12.224.0, or above.

    At the time of writing, it looks like version 12.234.0 is the app's most recent version.

    To check which version of the EA app you have installed on your PC, please follow these steps:

    The EA app will automatically update itself over time. However, if you would like to force the EA app update(s), you can do so by running the EAUpdater.exe program that you can find in the installation folder of the EA app: "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop", or by typing "EA Update" (without the quotation marks) in the Windows Search field.

    Please let us know if you can see & install the newest version of the EA app and if that also solves the issue for you.

    How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
    Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to launch a game while offline with no internet connections.
    What happens when the bug occurs? Unable to launch game offline, but fine when online
    What do you expect to see? How to stop the error from showing up and get the game to launch while offline.

    Tried to launch my game while offline and got an error (EC:204) saying my game license is expired and to launch the game online to renew it. I launched it while online and it worked fine, then tried it again offline and got the same error again. The game was able to launch offline before I reset my game. I've done this multiple times before and never received this error before. I have the sim 2 - 4 and Bejeweled 3 and non of them are able to launch now.

    I'm experiencing the same problem, except I can't log on whiles even connected to the internet. Keeps telling me to recheck my connection and I am online writing this error report! this just started happening today.  I cannot log with internet and i cannot log on without it. How does a license for a purchased game expire?

    I tried to play the sims 4 and I keep getting an error Code 204. I play offline because I only have 1 ethernet cord and I have to share it with 2 other people. But it's saying my game license has expired. It better not have!! I have spent waaaay too much money getting every EP, GP, SP, kits.. I played it last night and it was fine and tonight I get this?! What is going on EA??

    i went online and agreed to the terms and services. and when my computer is online and ea app isn't, i can still start the game. 

    when my computer is offline however, i get this error code.

    i have tried clearing the app's cache and restarting it. i have also restarted my computer. 

    my phone's hotspot is my only access to the internet on my computer so i can't have my computer online at all times. 

    edit: i just tried bringing it up with my computer online but the app offline and got the error message.

    When you have the chance would you mind sharing an Error Report ID for the EA app? You can find more info on how to find it at this article on the EA Help website. 

    Once you have the Report ID, please share it here in this thread. We just need to the ID, not the log files themselves.

    Right , it doesn’t pop up if your on WiFi but when your not it keeps saying to Renew the license .

    badabcd7-5d88-4fa5-bbf3-cb5feb0cb734 report  number.

    having this same issue and my game wont' launch. I am on the internet. when i go off line it tells me to the license is expired. how does a paid for game license expire? I have uninstalled the app i have repaired the app i have cleared the cache i have uninstalled and reinstalled my game and the app i have reset my router i have changed routers. i have done everything logically sensible! 

    the app wont launch the game

    there is a whole other thread before this one with a lot of others having this same issue! how come this one got replied to first?
