Unknown error (no error code) Sims 4 game download stucks at 40 %

Hi there.

I had some problems downloading Sims 4, first time a few days back, download got stuck at 25% and I got the same error message, I flushed EA app's cache (only thing that appears to work) and it started downloading again but I loss all download progress as it started from scratch, today I had the same problem, I tried the suggestions from this troubleshooting article: https://help.ea.com/en/help/ea/ea-app/game-download-install-load-troubleshoot/ but I loss all my progress once more, (this time I had 40% downloaded) it's downloading again in appearance without any trouble but from scratch, by the failure I'm assuming it's some file hash related issue, as my internet connection is working pretty well, is there some suggestion to avoid this App's misbehavior or to recover my download progress?

Thanks in advance.

    Hey there @Jotaerre3D,

Let's try the following steps to see if we can get The Sims fully installed:

    • Open task manager, locate EA Background Service, and end task
    • Clear the cache for the EA app
    • Run the EA app as an administrator
    • Check for any background applications blocking the EA App
    • Try lowering your User Access Control Settings:
      • Close the EA app
      • Click the Windows button and type "UAC" in the search field
      • In the User Access Control window, click and hold the slide bar —slide it to the lowest setting available
      • Click Okay the bottom of the window
      • Open the EA app client and try starting the download again

Hello and thank you @EA_Solaire for the reply, I already did all of these steps, (not in the same order) like I told in my post, the only thing that seems to work is clearing the app's cache, I did it and the app started downloading again but I loss anything I downloaded for second time, downloads here tends to be pretty slow between energy blackouts, internet shortages and the low bandwidth my ISP really supply, (a lot below the contracted bandwidth) I know that working well it would take several days to download, then my worries are about losing them again and again when I have a decent percent already downloaded, of course, making me not able to get the game, to be honest, I'm about to give up.

My question then, is about how to prevent the app's error from happening again, when it happens the app falls into a sort of infinite loop, checking, trying to restart the download and throwing the "unknown error" message, no matters if I restart the app or Windows, once it is in that loop, the only thing that stops it, is to clear the app cache, I have the suspiction that it can be derived from a random file hash failure the app cannot handle, as additional info I'm downloading it to an external drive with 1 Tb of space, all available for the download, using a core i5 laptop with 8 Gb of ram for those purposes.
    Hugs.
