Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Other (Please Describe)
Please describe EA failed to deliver a working app, forced the usage thereof, and instead provided something that destroyes one of the most vital parts of gaming; progress
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 04.05.23 13:15
Summarize your bug When games crash or freeze--which is a very frequent thing with your products--the saves can often get corrupted because the transfer to the cloud has been stopped abnormally. You might say there are local saves, well, that's a joke, because syncing doesn't help, countless hours are lost or even whole progress is lost. If there was a possibility to save only locally--cloud saving disabled--nothing of the sort would happen.
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Just play Jedi: Survivor a while, switch to Windows several times, see what happens and how soon and how often it crashes or freezes thus cancelling sync process, destroying saves.
What happens when the bug occurs? Lost countless of hours of progress as many other players.
What do you expect to see? An option to disable cloud saves.
Angry with the EA app's inability to disable cloud saves. Origin had this; why are you even...
Lost countless hours of progress in Jedi: Survivor because the un-optimized, crappy piece of an otherwise beautiful and imaginative game has been crashing after several hours every frikking time, and now sync has gone awry. As with some other games. AGAIN.
(Edit after an hour - the progress is back. I mean, if I gave in to the message after the game froze: "There is no cloud save, sync was interrupted, wait 5 mins or create a new save." that didn't dissapear even after 20 minutes, I wonder what would have happened. Instead of that, I went writing this text which paradoxically saved me. Nonetheless, the issue is still present. An option for local saving only is needed.)
I give it to you, that the new EA app is lightweight, looks good, and has lower impact on the system (I think). Nice work there. But how can you allow for the above-said!? You call yourself developers? I am an L2 IT, and I would do a better job at this than you, for crying out loud! Apparently contrary to you, I know that whenever there is a fragile and important data piece, it needs redundancy and safety options (such as local storage and transfer to a remote location only after that). You might argue, that this is how it works with the two ways to save, but you see, it doesn't. Because it keeps failing all the time. For countless users. And not at some minor thing like not loading a piece of a picture, but utterly destroying what is one of the most important aspects of the product at hand: progress. And why? Because you do a nonsense job by creating an app that by default relies on beyond-risky transfer through the internet—practically dozens of devices and connections, of which each can go wrong at any given time—and tie this with what is already a fragile part by nature!
Anger aside now. Would you be so kind as to amend and implement the option to disable the cloud saves in the EA app, set it as default, and do it as soon as possible, at best yesterday? Because if not, what can we do as players with you? Pirate your games for copies that actually provide us with better-functioning versions of your products? Or would an attempt at a class-action lawsuit be very funny for you, or maybe some smiles would freeze on your faces when you'd realize you'd failed to deliver what was promised—a reasonable amount of fun—and instead provided the total opposite—a repeated, unsolicited frustration and false advertisement that turned out to be grounds for you to be sued?
