Re: Why does Sims 3 sounds like it's killing my system?

Did you try the vsync and triple buffering that's suggested in the comments of the video ? No idea how you would do that on AMD.

  • tried that. CPU and GPU temps are still high ☹️

CPU goes to 75-80 range and GPU goes around 60-70. Only happening on Sims too 😕mileysad:

Really wanted to play the game too. Hope sims 4 has a frame rate option

Sims 4 does limit FPS, yes.

Did you clean out your fan ? Is this a laptop or desktop computer ?

How high are you FPS ?

I'm really not that great with overheating and hardware issues it does sound like something is wrong.

Are you playing other games ?

  • i'm able to play all of my other games just fine. but sims is pumping out over 100 fps consistantly and I've read that it should only be running at 30

100 shouldn't be that bad. 60 is what a limiter aims for so it's weird that you get more if you turned on vsync and triple buffering for your card.

I don't have an AMD card so I'm afraid I don't know how to do it there.

They said they were going to limit Sims 4 to 200 because of next gen monitors so I would think 100 shouldn't harm your system much.

What fps rates do you get for other games ?

  • for my other games I'm getting around the same fps but they don't strain my gpu and cpu like the sims does. also I should mention 100 is the minimum it can go up to 500 at times

What other games are you playing ? Just curious.

Also did you run a hardware check on your computer to see if anything is off ?

  • Then VSync is turned off. Force it on in your graphics card drivers for this game. It cannot exceed your refresh rate (60 on almost all monitors these days) with it turned on.

Do you know how to do it on AMD cards ? If so, could you post instructions ?

  • I play Skyrim, Dishonored, Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs, Sniper Elite 3, The Walking Dead, Dragon Age, Minecraft and a few others. All of my hardware is running fine.

But yeah I've just decided to wait until Sims 4 is released, no point risking my system for a game that I won't play again in a couple months.
