Re: Redeem product code error

@GamerGirl101z  Sorry that I couldn't provide a speedier response; I must have just missed you before going to help with dinner.

As long as you were signed into your account when you redeemed the code, your content should still appear in your Origin library.  Try clearing Origin's cache (Windows) or running the Origin reset tool (mac OS) and then check your library.

https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/

If you're playing in Windows, you'll be patched to 1.69 and forced to start the game via Origin as soon as you download any pack.  There's no way around the mandatory Origin tie-in.  If you're on a mac, however, you'll stay on patch 1.67 and be able to avoid Origin entirely, just as you have so far.  In fact, you could uninstall Origin from your computer and still play TS3 without issue.  (Of course, either way, you still need to download through Origin, but I'm sure you know that.)  None of this has any bearing on what happened to your code, though.

if your code doesn't appear in your account, then yes, you'd need to contact EA customer support to sort things out.  It would be helpful for you to provide the receipt from Target and the confirmation email you received as proof of purchase and ownership.  Support should be back soon, hopefully tomorrow.

    @puzzlezaddict

Thank you for the quick response!

I wish I could say it was helpful, but even after contacting EA customer support I don’t think my stuff packs are salvageable. Just as I long feared, Origin has made it impossible for me to enjoy my new content, and every way I tried to play this game it gave me a hard time until finally I typed in my code and it said that the code was too long, and so I think it’s time I give up this witch hunt and repurchase disc versions which are simple and easy to download with minimal time and effort.

I am using a VERY old Dell laptop, and it’s not worth killing it’s dinosaur circuits to do this dance with Origin. But I thank you very much for taking time on such an important night to actually read and respond to my issue and provide as helpful as a response as I could’ve asked for!

Thank you very much and I hope you continue to help others even though my problem was a bust from the start!!

@GamerGirl101z  I'm sorry that you're having such trouble with your codes.  For what it's worth, you absolutely have the right to replacement codes, either from EA or Target.  Since Target is an authorized retailer, someone has to honor your purchase.  You might try sending the transcript of your chat with EA support to Target and requesting new codes.  Or you could ask for your money back, since you didn't receive a working product.

Sometimes it's easier to register codes on the Sims 3 store site, rather than within Origin.  Codes for expansion and stuff packs are 20 characters long, and you'd need to use the link to "Register a Game," rather than "Redeem a Code," which only asks for 16 characters and is for worlds and other bonus content.  Both links are at the bottom of the store site page.

But I can understand why you'd want to give up dealing with Origin entirely; it can be a massive headache for many players.  Discs are great, as long as your computer can read and authenticate them, but that's not always the case.  You'd also need a base game disc manufactured before September 2012; the ones made later require that Origin be installed to "manage" the game install.  So you'd wind up right back where you started, on patch 1.69 and needing Origin to be running to launch your game.

If you're serious about repurchasing TS3, Steam would be significantly cheaper right now.  The base game and packs are $5 each right now; the sale ends January 3 at 10 am PST.  There are a couple of even better discounts available too:

    https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/1247/The_Sims_3_Bundle/

    https://store.steampowered.com/sub/19071/

You could also just buy the packs you're missing—you'd receive CD keys from Steam, which you could register in Origin just as you wanted to use your Target code.  You'd need to buy a copy of the base game as well, but if you registered it, you'd receive 1,000 free SimPoints.  I know this works because I'm one of the many that has done this, although I added my codes through the store, rather than Origin.  (I don't trust the app either.)

Anyway, if there's anything else I can do to help you with this mess, please let me know.  If you would in fact like to try to recover the content you bought from Target, I can ask someone from EA what else you should do.  Like I said, you have every right to the content you bought from an authorized retailer.

    Hi guys,

I recently bought The Sims3 Worlds Bundle (monte vista and hidden springs) and I cannot register my games at all.

I have been trying to register them in both Sims3 launcher and Sims3 Community website, still nothing.

Whenever I enter the serial number in Sims3 Launcher, it says 'Oops! We are not able to process this request'.

When I go to register the serial number in Sims3 Community, the page cannot be reached.

I know it is not my PC (Windows), because I have tried reaching the same page from 3 different devices, with different wifi's etc.

Please help, what shall I do?

@DSY2014  I bought the same bundle a couple of weeks ago and registered the codes on the Sims 3 store website:

    https://store.thesims3.com/

Use the "Redeem a Code" button at the bottom of the page.  If you get an error saying that a code has already been used, check your store page (click on "My Page" at the top of the screen) to see if the worlds are already on your account—there's a list of all the content you own along the left side of the screen.  If you don't see them, clear your browser cache (make sure to uncheck the box to preserve data for favorites) and try again.

If you still can't add the codes to your account, you'll need to contact EA customer support to get things sorted out.  A purchase through Origin will have a record that the support rep can access; if you bought a disc copy, on the other hand, make sure to have photos of the discs, case, and insert on hand for the chat.  A receipt would help as well.
