Well I played a round or two of TW14 every day until the server shutdown this week, playing in a Country Club with other young women. Set-up for draw or fade stances was very good, no question asked there. Just about every sim players I know just hated the diagonal swing and refused to play it. Could well be why EA didn't bring it back for this game. As for the strike meter, it wasn't a big deal unless you played Arcade or Pro. We were always playing Analog Fade for maximum points, and we rarely moved it. We were just aiming to compensate for side hill and when we had a very bad lie in the rough, just hit the ball to a safe place. Putting was so easy playing expert with no grid that we were making everything.
Edit: Meant strike meter
- @PalomaMarvel24 Yes. I agree with you.
- @Katybee_1313 The diagonal swing of the stick was hard but doable. The diagonal swing mechanics they have for the current game is impossible and doesn't even make sense.

It is just a gimmicky concept some video game developer thought was a good idea.
The better system would be to open or close your stance instead, as @Katybee_1313 has referenced.
As for the current game, you can still work around the new swing mechanics. You just have to realize that you can still swing straight... just note that adjusting fade and draw is just opposite to what you want.
At least this is how I recall you could deal with it on SIM settings. But it's been a while now since I have played EA.
- @ELF014 I agree and disagree with you about the diagonal swing for fading and drawing. I know it's a gimmicky concept but it has to be a little harder than just adjusting your stance. Because in real golf it's not that easy to draw and fade the ball accurately for most golfers.

But to your point, how good is the distance control and accuracy of most golfers in real life compared to how they play in a video game?

TW14 features are needed to save the series. It is bad that current game is a bridge too far. Given no improvements in current game, I think 2K25 might be the game that could be like TW14. 2k has a face capture technology from WWE 2k series that is better than game face. If this gets applied in 2K25, it is game over.

I am blown away that EA as well as 2k23 do not have more options for facial creation. They will never be able to cover what people want to do with presets, whether players want to create themselves, or create Phil Mickelson or Sergio Garcia. When you could actually modify the eyes, nose, cheeks, jaw, chin, etc like you mentioned in Tiger Woods 14, one could really come close to if not create a ringer for whomever they were trying to create. Its amazing how far backwards this game is, and its 2023 for crying out loud. Create a player is freaking horrendous on these games.

I would like to look like a normal woman again, a petite redhead golfer looking like myself. In this EA game, I look like a bag of potato. We need female devs for this game, and those awful black socks. YUCK!

In TW14, I remembered creating Gal Gadot and my friend created Kevin Hart. Voices were also available and the Kevin Hart avatar perfectly had his voice as well. I remembered using a voice similar to Stephanie McMahon for Gal since her accent was not available. The WWE 2K face capture is even more accurate. The avatar can look exactly like me or anyone else like Ana De Armas or Nelly Korda.

There are a small selection of latina avatars available. Regardless of who I create, the character looks more like Daisy Ridley. Too bad there are no golf clubs looking like a lightsaber. In WWE 2K and TW14, it is more possible to create someone looking like me.

It is super disappointing to hear how many of you are struggling with the create a player part of the game. It did seem to me that we took a huge step forward in the early to mid 2010s on this so it really does tell you how lazy/ignorant/inept our game developers are to not even be able to produce something that was done 9 years ago. Why can’t we create our own faces? Could it be that difficult of an engine?

I think if a copy and paste of TW14 was done, it might save the headaches. This year, the developers did something to reinvent the wheel like adding RNG and forgetting game face; they also reinvented NHL 24 be removing hybrid controls at launch. There is one big difference between NHL 24 and PGA Tour; the Hybrid controls got added back to NHL 24 while nothing has changed with PGA Tour. It is obvious there is more investment and sales with NHL 24 than PGA Tour.

Unfortunately, they can't do that because it's on the old Tiger Woods engine. If they would have been able to copy and paste from the old TW engine to Frosbite, it would have saved them a lot of work, and EA Rory would have a lot of contents. This is the problem with starting from scratch with a new engine, and why HB/2K are still using the old Unity engine for their game. It's a lot easier this way, and they can keep all the courses made by customers with the courses creator. They will probably lose all those courses with a new engine.

You would think this would be a valid argument. But what do you say when 2K deliberately removed the ability to add weight to your golfer. It was available in 2K2019.
And while I was reviewing all the old 2K games... 2K2019 is really playable with everything disabled. The only problem is that it is far to easy to hit shots straight. I really enjoy the putting without the green grids.
- @PalomaMarvel24 And don't forget the no replays. I still can not comprehend that the devs decided that it would be a good idea to not have replays in this game. Every other game has replay's except for this one. That's basic stuff.

1) Ability to adjust wind speed. TW14 can change wind speed from calm to gale force. It is so bad I had to put up with Gale Force winds in Career mode at Cardi Creek (aka Wolf Creek) in current game. The gale winds causes ball physics to resemble Cardi B throwing the mic.
2) In TW14, I can hit the green in a long approach shot using a 3-iron or 4-iron. This is almost impossible in the current game. In current game my golfer is more like Aaron Judge when I use a 3-iron for long approach shot and misses the green by miles.
