Re: New Grenade Type

like the community manager said

if these were added they would instantly become the most sought after grenade. The meta of the late game would become teams throwing freeze nades at each other and then running in to melt defenseless opponents

it would also make wattson even more cemented in the top pro scene meta where wattson and wraith have ~100% pickrates across all teams

besides arc stars already kind of do this

@Eurlannd Arcs simply slow you. And also give shock damage. Have you seen how a Betty works? It's pretty awesome & deadly.

@Lord_Scorpion34 A bouncing Betty is more of a trap.
I doubt people would be happy if they added more traps to the game.
Being frozen for a second can be extremely powerful.
If it was just plain explosive, then it probably isn’t necessary, as we already have enough explosives.

@Lord_Scorpion34 Oh, I thought you were referring to irl bouncing betties.
Looking those up, they’re fairly different from real life ones. Irl, you wouldn’t use it as a grenade.

It could maybe work, but it doesn’t seem like it brings anything wildly new to the table. The actual effect of spraying low damage shrapnel would just be like a normal explosion.

@Sir_Named Not necessarily. With a Betty (depending on the range they would decide on), you could hit multiple squads with 1 grenade. Maybe freeze would be too much but maybe some other element or dart damage. Plus you couldn't just hide behind a wall to avoid it. You would have to make sure you have cover over head like with Gibraltar's & Bangalore's ults.

@Lord_Scorpion34 Ah, so a very large aoe grenade. In that case, freeze would definitely not work, unless it was for less than a second. I would suggest that it slows enemies, but 😇 the arc star does that already and (b) depending on how strong the slow is it could be too powerful.
Depending on how high it is, you might need overhead cover. I doubt you’ll need overhead cover though.
Like Eurlannd said, this would also be major incentive to play Wattson.
