@TheApexLegendNub My personal opinion is this:
- Rank level cap should be increased from 10 to like 100/150, because a lot of people just smurph or hack and it's really not fun trying to earn points against these players.
- Rank should only derank you to the IV teir of your current rank. Are you Diamond III? You're Diamond IV now. This is because for some dumb reason, it pretty much sets everyone plat and above down to the Silver II.
I've only ever reached plat, so I don't know what rank Diamonds and up are set to but considering the first few rank games of the season or split is only ever all the high ranks mixed with gold and below, I'd say they're dropping people way too low.
For plat and up, they shouldn't derank a player out of that devision, except for predator, which should be set to masters, so all the masters can fight it out in ranked, and so the top ranked players would be fluctuating as people retake the crown.
Gold and below, should be allowed to be deranked one below, besides bronze, which is the lowest, and this is because there isn't (from my experience) much difference in bronze, silver, or gold players. I've solo qued all the way to plat for like season 4, 5, 6, and 7 for both splits of those seasons. The only time where the dynamics of gameplay changes significantly is in plat games, and it's a lot harder to rank up.
Even if you haven't played in a few months, the game should still not derank you out of the teir, unless again, you were predator or silver-gold.
But I hear people asking "what about rank gun charms and dive trails?", Well, if a person doesn't go at least one ladder tier (IV to III), then they don't get the cosmetic reward.
Honestly, they should of only gave one rank charm, that changes based off your rank. If you're gold and then plat the next, this single charm would just change colors to the new rank. They also won't really have to care about the style of the charm or even the badge either, since it would be static across seasons. Dive trails should also represent your rank, even if you were in bronze. Having this "oh yeah you fly down with a master trail this season", doesn't really sound very rewarding to me, specially if you don't make the master cut next season, you lose the trail while like season 1 players get to keep it regardless. But it's too late to fix rank rewards.
