Re: Console Mouse And Keyboard

One gets the impression that they are not interested in the console as a platform.
We still don't have 120 fps support.
Absolutely inexplicable lack of keyboard and mouse support, whereas it is obvious that the gameplay is focused primarily on the keyboard and mouse.
And no comments from Respawn... although the problem has been discussed since 2019

  • why not?

    1) movement
I think no one will argue that this is one of the most important parts of the gameplay in Apex.
But some tricks just can't be done on the controller

    2) looting
It's easier to loot with a k&m. And it is also impossible to move on the gamepad during looting (unlike k&m)

    3) shooting
yes aim assist help but it is not as strong as COD (I dont whant to say thet aim asist in COD is good decision)
and aim assist doesn't work on long distance. (if I'm not mistaken, scope more than 4x doesn't work)

I think it's obvious that the gameplay was balanced focusing on the k&m and not on the gamepad

  • @matzesingt Do you disagree and think this is fair to be forced to play on controller? And the previous generation fps lock is an entirely other topic but it’s a honorable mention. What do you think? Also could you please mention what you play apex on.

@SuperMoose10 I’m glad there are others out there who feel the same way. I love apex but the mnk controller balance doesn’t feel fair to me. By no means am I a pro player but I can do basic movement tech like bunny hop Super glide super jump wall bounce etc. My tracking and flicking is pretty good at times. I can win most of my 1v1 until I meet a mnk sweat. They’re just so ahead of me and I feel cheated because I think to myself if I had 120 fps and a mnk I could’ve definitely won the fight. Call it an excuse or whatever you want but I have good reason, I owned a pc for a couple years and had to sell it for personal reasons and I was much better at 144 fps in 2 k on a mnk than 60 fps on a controller. Just ranting at this point but I’m very passionate about this topic. I love the game I play it every chance I get which isn’t often because I work I’m married and I have children. I’m just frustrated at this point and I feel like it’s really pushing me away from the game.

@BL00DYPURGE The bit at the end cleared up so much for me. I couldn't fathom why a console player cared about having M/KB when their primary experience should be with a controller. That said... no. Its sad that there is a small percentage of players that have a legitimate reason for wanting M/KB on consoles but there are many players that would hate that with a passion.

Just stick to the input device made for your system.

edited: Probably a lot more typos. So very tired.

@SuperMoose10 1) every movementtech you can do with mnk you can do with controller on pc.

    2) don’t know how to fix that since you need both sticks to maneuver in the deathbox quickly.

    3) aim assist is incredibly strong as it is, especially in close combat. But seems to be falling off on longer ranges but depending on the scope it does extent the range to a decent amount I think.

Just looking at the alc settings should show you that respawn really tries to design the game for controller aswell.
We are currently in a smg meta close combat, away from bubble/shotgun fights last season (wich did favor mnk) but smg and cqc tracking especially favors controllers.
Snipers are out of meta and barely ever were meta to begin with. The game and mir fights usually end up in cqc favoring controller over mnk. So I wouldn’t specifically say it favors anyone, I actually do believe they try to be as equal as possible

@BL00DYPURGE I think you should be able to play with mnk if you’d like ofc without aimassist then 🙂

I play on pc and I am normally a mnk player, but switched about 3-4 weeks ago to controller to see if I can push to master in arena with controller, currently close to top 2% in arena so maybe it happens we will see
  • @matzesingt I think the discussion has gotten a little off track.
My point is that i want to be able to play mnk on console VS mnk on pc. (how it works in COD, Fortnite or Halo)
And I don't see any technical barriers to doing so.

thanks for such a detailed answer

  • @heme725 you say stick to the input made for my system. That’s kind of my point. The input made for a computer is a mouse and keyboard but the players are allowed to use a controller on pc. Do you see the contradiction? This wouldn’t be an issue at all for me if it wasn’t cross play with pc. But it is and they can use either input. That’s my issue.
