Re: Armax Arena Jack

@Duel-of-Fate Regarding the points screen, I believe you posted something like this earlier, but didn’t elaborate when asked. What seems to be the issue here?

And regarding Jack’s Citadel meet-up, I can’t recall ever seeing a load out screen for that, though I could be just not remembering it. Maybe someone else can confirm. If not, though, then it makes sense since she’s the one that set the match up, not you.

It sounds like they're referring to the fact that all Citadel DLC exclusive squadmates (like Wrex and Jack) have 1 fewer skill points than normal squdmates.

This was the case in the original, and it seems like an intentional decision to me.

But why would it be? Like... It makes zero sense.

I can't speak for Bioware. Personally I think it's interesting because it forces you to make more than one decision. With the normal amount of skill points you can fully upgrade everything except for one skill that stays at 3, so you only have to pick that one skill. With 1 fewer points you can have one skill with 4 and one with 5 instead, so you have two choices to make.

In any case it seems entirely plausible that this was intentional, but only they could say.

I mean, I get it, it could be intentional, but it is so random and such an insignificant way to make it "harder". If you're playing on a higher difficulty, you'll either pick your trusty ME3 squadmates anyway, or you'll be so OP that it won't matter. If you play on Casual or Normal, well... Again, squadmates don't matter there, you'll obliterate everything.

These extra squadmates will also have crappy base weapons... But that doesn't really matter either, since squadmates are hella useless in ME apart from when you control their abilities. I made a habit of watching how a single husk obliterates my squadmates who refuse to fkin shoot at it. Doesn't really matter if it's a level 10 Mattock or a level 1 Avenger when you don't use it, lol.

Idunno, could be an intentional decision, but I have my money on a simple human error.

Of course, I didn't say anything about difficulty. I agree that in general the squadmates aren't particularly useful one way or the other except to draw attention away from the player.

What I mean is that being forced to make more decisions in the skill tree is a plausible game design decision. I'm also not suggesting I agree with the decision or that it's very impactful, just that I don't think this is necessarily a bug.

@PakunaMatata Yes, I posted a post of Urdnot Wrex having pre-assigned skill points given to him without the liberty as a Player to personally assign him points. This is an RPG? And Mass Effect Trilogy is classified as an RPG with the concentration given to the player for the liberty of choices. This would include: In-game choices/consequences. And Gameplay Mechanics=weapons loadout and powers assigned to squadmates.
  • @felker_s My question on this is: The Decision why Bioware would do unto the Fan Base?

    - ME1,2,3 is classified as an RPG. With the liberty of players to make choices (in-game and gameplay mechanics).
    - I earned the right to have the Insanity Difficulty Unlock by performing the prerequisite of 1 playthrough of 70+hrs. (ME1)
    - I earned the right of having Wrex Loyalty.
    First: ME1 (kept him alive)
    Second: ME2 - saving Maleon's data.
Third: based on these previous decisions - Wrex is classified in-game Loyal to "players" Shepard.
From this; when playing the Citadel DLC - the player has to buy the DLC now in Mass Effect Legendary we pay full price. With that said, for Bioware to intentionally handicap the player (especially on Insanity Difficulty) this is supposed to be fun playing. Not intentionally-grueling...
Where's the reward in this, I ask Bioware?

    Jack:
Why would not having a weapon loadout not be important? Or pre-assigned squad powers even be an intelligent decision making? Again, this is for the player(s) fun and enjoyment. Part of the fun and enjoyment is having Jack back as a squadmate with the powers the Player chooses. Not Bioware.......?

I'm hoping I'm making myself clear in all this? Trying to explain something by typing it out is hard.

@Duel-of-Fate Alright, so I loaded up one of my ME3 saves (Original trilogy, not Legendary).  In the case of Jack and Wrex's skill points, both of them are assigned up to level 3 on all their powers, as you have observed.  (The first three levels are not ones where you are offered a choice of power evolution anyways).  I wouldn't consider this a bug, nor do I expect BioWare will do anything about it.

Second, with regards to Jack's loadout, you can change that for her meetup event if you really want to.  You need her arena squadmate license, though.  Before you trigger her meetup event, go down to the arena setup workstation at the bottom of the stairs, and set yourself up a match that has Jack as a squadmate.  Nothing else matters.  Then go to the weapons selection table near the "launch tube".  Change the weapons Jack uses, and yourself, if you want.  Then, instead of starting the match, go upstairs and trigger her meetup.  She will then be equipped with the weapons and mods you chose.

DISCLAIMER: This was tested by myself with the PC version of the original Mass Effect 3.  I have not verified that it still works in the legendary edition, though it would be strange if it didn't.

Yeah I wouldn't expect Bioware to do anything about it.

Thanks for that. It's been a while since I even loaded up ME3 Original.

@PakunaMatata I tested this for a chance as I was wondering myself to have her with better gear and can confirm it still works in the LE, so I decided today to help the OP.
  • @draconiam Do you know of anyone who has the game on PC (Steam) that finished Mass Effect LE on Insanity? I finished it and the achievement never unlock...?

Really disappointing since I have no interest in doing another playthrough on Insanity.....one is enough...
