Re: Sims 4 Not Launching In Origin for Mac?

@Sirens4Ever  There was an issue overnight with Origin and Sims 4 that was apparently fixed about an hour ago, so please check again now.  Let me know what issues, if any, are still present.

    It's still not working, unfortunately.

I closed out of Origin, then repaired files.. and nothing. After that, I used the ResetOrigin application and wiped the cache. I let Origin re-download/repair my Sims 4 content.. and still nothing. The client does the same as it did before; it minimizes the window, acts like it's going to launch Sims 4, but just re-opens.

However, my time played has been restored -- but that's the only change.

I'm running the Origin client on Ventura 13.2.1 macOS. I doubt that's an issue, as I didn't have any problems playing the game days ago. I believe last Friday? So.. I have zero idea what this newfound problem is. I haven't downloaded any new packs, no mods, no CC, nothing. I really don't think it's an issue on my end.

Also, on an odd note, the "Last Played" portion in my game library is saying I played Sims 4 today.. which isn't true. It looks as though at least one of my failed attempts at launching the game logged itself in Origin as successfully being played today.

It's working on my end now. I ended up starting a fresh game file by removing my folder to my desktop and then dragging pieces of it back. All is back to normal.

    Sigh of relief.

Good to know it wasn't an Origin issue. Moving the Sims 4 folder to the desktop so a new clean one is generated is the basic troubleshooting step that is always worth trying when your game won't launch. There is a stickied thread in the Mac forum that goes into more detail here - https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612394#M163

The blanket suggestion of clearing Origin cache is absolutely useless on Mac as there are several files in other places which are missed. Just trashing the app and redownloading it is also useless because all the cache, preference and other Library files are left behind. You're better off either doing it manually https://bluebellflora.com/how-to-uninstall-origin-on-a-mac/ or running the Origin reset tool https://help.ea.com/en/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/
