Re: Game crashing after allowing script mods

@leamizeOuch... sorry to hear that is going on.
Unfortunately the best answer is to try these steps ( and ensure ALL MODS are current and functioning for latest version of game ... December hit a lot of mods hard )

Remove mods / saves / trays to desktop
Delete thumbcache
Open EA APP and repair
Start new clean game and create a sim and move in.

Save.
Exit
Add mods back 50 / 50 to mods folder in MY PC \ DOCUMENTS location. ( just in case 50 / 50  means... add and check they are functioning.. add more and check for function.. etc etc. )
Then trays
Last add saves after checking mods are working

Make sure mods are up to date  A dead script could crash your game out easily. ☹️

Hello, thanks for answering. Most of the things you said I already, tried ,my mods are all up to date, I updated them like a billion times. The problem is, even if do a completely new sim file and the game works it probably wouldn't really matter. My game works fine, it's just this one specific household that I can't play cause the game crashes. Im still not sure why, but I moved them to another lot and I at least can load into the household again. The game still crashed after I tried to download a house from the gallery. It might just be too much for my PC, but it's still very weird to me how it's just this one household and how weird it is with the mods. I could have zero mods in the folder, but unless I disable script mods it still crashes. If it was one of the mods, then wouldn't it apply to all my saves/households?

  • @leamizeBelieve it or not, no. It could affect one family. It depends on what parts of the game the mod would touch.
Based on what your saying tho', it's not sounding like your machine, it's a bad mod.
Trying most of the things, won't narrow it down. You have to try the whole thing. Especially the 50 / 50. AND the delete thumbcache!!!!
THERE are now reports referenced more of some issues with some gallery downloads causing issues. I just delt with one yesterday in fact concerning a downloaded lot. ☹️
I WOULD try what I listed above and get a new sim going ( and verify the script issue by turning it on with the clean save sim created. )

OR YOU could of course... kill that family. Still possible somehow they could be the only infected with a bad bug of mod or something. But if something affected just them... it will affect others at some point. ☹️

**If your really feeling like wrangling this bug out, you could send me your mod list and if you can the ID / Name of the last gallery item you tried? DM to me. Do not post any mod list here please. **

Hello, yea I will definitely try to fix it, but the problem with most of the things is that if for example I try the 50/50 thing and my game works if I do a completely new sims file. I still wouldn't know if my game actually works, since it's just that one family. So I will only know if I play my old sim file again. Also like I said I already took all my mods out and it still crashed, the only time it doesn't crash is when I disable my mods in the options menu. The second I allow mods in my game the household crashes, it doesn't matter if I even have mods my folder or not. 🥲 But I really appreciate your help and I will definitely try it, but this game is driving me crazy that's for sure 😭

  • @leamize That sounds like... you didn't delete the thumbcache.
If it's not that, yeah... that family has a bug picked up at some point and is corrupt somehow. Which as crazy as it seems I ve had.
A family in a save, that works fine as NPC but load them as the family in play.. boom.
Your best option is the steps still.. and if all is well but that family.. kill them.
Even better.. if all is well... start a new game with functioning mods ( sux.. but it's the only way to ensure there is no issues once you have bugs killed off from whatever it is )

@leamize If your game works without script mods, then you need to look to your mods. Just because you're on the current version of a mod doesn't mean it's working. Check the Broken/Updated Mods list and try a 50-50 of your Mods folder to see which mods are causing the problem.
