Re: NHL 22 Can’t Skate

Hi there, @accountforq

Can you give me some more details? Are you saying that if try to skate once the puck is dropped, your player won't move unless you stickhandle to your forehand or backhand and then you start gliding? Do you have any video of this? Also, what system are you playing on? Thanks!

  • So for some reason it only happens to me on offense; I can skate fine when on defense. Basically when I have the puck my player will be stuck gliding, and I can’t skate with them until I stick handle for a bit. I am on Xbox One. Video can be found

    here

Thanks for the video. That's pretty odd. We'll go through some troubleshooting. Did this start all of a sudden or has it always been there with 22? Does it happen under a different gamertag? Also, try clearing your alternate MAC address with the steps here:

    Go to your Xbox Settings
Go to "Network", then "Advanced Network Settings"
Click on "Alternate MAC Address", and then click "Clear"

  • The issue recently started, but I’ve already had NHL for awhile (about since launch). I tried the MAC thing and it did not work.

Thanks for the details and for trying that. Next, try deleting the personal saved data for NHL. Press the Guide button and then highlight the NHL 22 tile. Then, hit the Menu button. It's the small one to the right of the Guide button with 3 horizontal lines on it. Next, go to Manage game and add-ons > Saved data. Delete the file with your gamertag on it. There is the risk of losing offline saves and changes to settings you've made. Normally, those download from the cloud, but I can't guarantee this. Let me know what happens.

  • Hey so I actually downloaded a controller tester and it may actually be my controller that’s the problem… originally I didn’t think it was cause I tried so many different controllers but they are all old so they might just all have the issue.

Hopefully, that's the case. Something else to check is to make sure the controller's firmware is up to date. Have you checked that yet? On your Xbox, go to Settings > Devices and Connections > Accessories to check.

  • How come I can play team skate but won’t let me play free skate

What happens when you try to play free skate? Also, what console are you playing on?

  • Hello i have the same problem, like the other guy, my controlet is fine but i cant skate with puck in NHL 22. I have Xbox Series S. I had no issues with it until now i have the Xbox for like a year.

  • I did controller tester and its fine, i dont know what else should i do. Should i buy new controller? Or is there something else  i can do?

Did you actually try a different controller? I'd really like to rule out any issues with it.

Something else to try is hard restarting your Xbox. Hold down the power button for about 10 seconds. Then, turn it on again. You should get the Xbox logo screen. Load into the game and try again. If that doesn't help, try deleting the personal saved data for NHL 22. Press the Guide button and then highlight the NHL 22 tile. Then, hit the Menu button. Did you also try deleting the saved data that I mentioned in that last post? Also, what control scheme are you using? NHL 94, Hybrid or Skill Stick.

It would also be good to make sure your controller's firmware is up to date. To check that, go to your Xbox settings > Devices & connections > Accessories.

  • Yes i deleted the saved data i did everything that you told me even the firmware thing, i uptaded my controller and i still cant move with a puck, i can move without it but i cant with it. I play on Skill Stick.

Thanks for trying. Have you deleted and reinstalled the game yet? If not, give that a shot and let me know if it makes a difference.

  • Yeah i did it twice already, so do you think i should buy new controller or its Software problem?

If the same thing is happening with another controller, I don't think that's the issue. Does it happen if your controller is plugged in? Also, what controller are you using? Is it a standard Xbox controller or is it an Elite or 3rd party one?

  • I have standard controller, and idk if its happening when its pugged in i have it wireless. I dont know where the cabel is so i cant test it.

I'm glad to hear that worked. It's still a pretty odd issue since you could skate fine without the puck. Regardless, it's just good that you can play again. If there are any other issues, please let us know. Good luck on the ice!
