% Damaged Increase / Decrease Taken: Worst Part of Apex
Fortified (10% reduced damage taken) and Low Profile (5% increased damage taken), have been the worst additions to this game. While I understand the hitbox debate and struggle, placing a mandatory damage reduction or increase needs to be removed. Here is why:
Now there is a 15% spread between how much damage I can do to Tanks and how much damage they are doing to me. Normally, in other games whereas Tanks and DPS characters are carved out more, this type of spread is justified. The tanks TAKE MORE damage because the DPS characters DEAL MORE damage, whether by skills or abilities. But in Apex this is NOT true. We all use the same guns and bullets. As a DPS character I cannot force you to take more damage, meaning if we both hit 100%, I'm going to lose 100% of the time.
It may be easier for me to hit you due to hitbox but that is why Gibby got a gunshield in the first place. Caustic does not have a gun shield, but rather a well played one can force vision impairments with gas.
The 15% spread is making the player experience very unenjoyable and the is the worst part of Apex.
Solution
Instead of placing arbitrary gun damage manipulations, make those characters abilities STRONGER. Buff Gibby's gun shield. Buff Caustic's ultimate (horrible btw - needs a change). Give a solid reason to play bigger hit box legends by making the trade-off about Hitbox vs Abilities, not Hitbox vs Damage.
It feels bad when you totally outplay a player pound for pound, only to have them with because of arbitrary means. Please remove these mechanics from the game and seek other means to compensate for larger hitboxes.
