anyone else feel like rampart minigun is worse than an actual gun

I've been testing rampart for some time now, and while the minigun is good when you have it spinned up, people simply wont stay in the gun spray, not to mention they simply pickoff the amp shields from the edge, thus exposing you on the turret.

I love the idea of a stationary gun, but like in most games for instance Rainbow six siege, evasion via movement is more important than a stationary devotion.

If they wanted rampart to have an inpactful ultimate, the gun should not have a spinup, I know it sounds strong, but you cant push people with the turret, you have to wait for them to peek you.

The only scenario where the turret really excels is when the enemy is forced to push over a large open area with the ring in their back, however the gun turret is not very special in that regard considering an assault rifle could do the exact same thing, except also being mobile and being able to pick its own fights instead of being focussed down by everyone in the area not to mention being super fragile to an outflanking manuever or third party.

  • @KrakaDrak They should just make her ult a limited time gun mod for an lmg. That way she retains mobility and could be a real threat.

@TinyTim6991I like the stationary gun idea, but the 2 seconds buildup to get near laser beam accuracy is very difficult to be useful in a realistic scenario.
Reducing the buildup to 1s might make the gun a lot better, since sustained fire is rarely effective when people dive in cover (yes I know it has to do with the whole suppressing fire theme but with such a long reload time and relatively short mag, its not a very effective suppression).
I also think they should turn down the particle effect size of the amped bullets, I cant even propperly track my targets from range with those massive fireball looking projectiles obstructing my sight.

  • @KrakaDrak Yeah not being able to see what you're shooting at makes it difficult to use. Its an outstanding 3rd party Ult if your teammates don't give away your position by shooting first.

Works well to punish players trying to push the building you're in (at platinum rank at least.) It is an extremely situational Ult though.
