apex legends matchmaking issues

I can't ready up and start matchmaking by myself. when my friends invite me and when i join them they can see me in the lobby but i can't see them. However when i'm in "their" lobby i can ready up but then i play by myself... I have had this problem almost the whole season 6 and still having it now in season 7. What is the big problem?
