Arc Star Nerf

Not the damage nor the explosion radius, but simply how the grenade works. Being farther away from the center of the Arc Star should proportionally stun you for less and less, with the full stun time occurring at 1-5 meters in explosion radius, and scaling down from 6-10 meters.

Arc stars have a blast radius of approximately 10-9.6 meters. Within said 10 meters, being within the center 5 meter radius will cause it to do full damage to shields, and being past 5 meters will reduce said damage. Independent testing of marking a spot and moving 5-10 meters away from it reveal the arc star does approximately:

1-3 meters: 125 damage

4 meters: 112 damage

5 meters: 100 damage

6 meters: 75 damage

7 meters: 60 damage

8 meters: 25 damage

9 meters: 12 damage.

Yet all 10 meters will stun you for approximately the same amount, with the arc star stunning for just a hair longer at 1-4 meters, despite doing wildly varying amounts of damage.

@MoNosDirtyGaming I think not. Not entirely fair to walk into the edge of the 10m radius at the last second and get fully stunned as if I sat dead center of the grenade.

  • @pastaclownI do see your point, but if the change was implemented then the ark star would instantly become unappreciated unless you stuck someone with it. It would not become an explosive to escape the full radius of, but instead an explosive to escape half the distance of. People would also ask for it to be buffed. You know what they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

@MoNosDirtyGaming on the contrary I believe even with the change arc stars will see no drop-off in usage. I've yet to see a single person tank any grenade of any sort at any distance simply because it looked like they were far enough away from it. However I do believe if said change were to occur the developers would no doubt take your point into account and most likely increase the full stun effective range to at least a 7 meter radius.

  • @pastaclown I personally prefer to use thermites over grenades or arc stars but I do agree the further away you are the less damage you should recieve or atleast you shouldn’t be stunned as badly

Well aren't arc stars the children of Gravity Stars in Titanfall? Those basically created a gravity bubble that was equal in its strength not radiating from the center to the rim. So an arc star is basically the same thing: it deploys an equal strength field for its full radius, it's not blowing shrapnel at the player where the particles would disperse.

And I only pick up thermite grenades too. They are vicious!

@Professor_Doggy it's not deploying an equal strength field for it's AoE though, as it does less damage the further you are away from it. An equal strength field across a 10 meter radius would mean the arc star does full damage and stun across all 10 meters. Yet this is already not true as you take less damage the further you are away from the star. Which begs the question of why or how does it fully stun you at the 10 meter threshold despite doing next to nothing?

To reiterate, not calling for a change to the area of effect, nor the charge time, nor damage dealt, nor the benefits of sticking someone with an arc star. Simply calling for a QoL change that's consistent with how the Arc Star already works. If it deals less and less damage the further you are from it's effective blast radius, the stun should fall off proportionally to that.

    @pastaclownIt's fine how it is.

Its so sad i can't give a person downvotes on this forum :<

    How is that nade fine?

    Its sooo broken.

The stun and slow is so insane.

It can stuck with pure luck and just kill a person that way.

Its the dumbest thing in apex legends at the moment. Together with the knockback a punch gives.
