Bloodhound Rework – Feedback and Gameplay Idea
Hi Respawn Apex team,
I’ve been playing Apex for a long time, and Bloodhound has always been one of my favorite Legends. I was really happy to see the rework this season, especially because I felt like Bloodhound had fallen behind other Legends for quite a while.
After playing with the new version for a bit, though, I started feeling that the new ability still doesn’t have quite the same potential as some of the other Legends, especially at higher levels of play.
I don’t think the current changes are bad at all. I actually like the direction you took with Bloodhound. I just think there might be room to make the new Ultimate a little more unique and impactful while still keeping it balanced.
One idea I had that I think could fit Bloodhound really well is making the invisibility part of the Ultimate apply only to Bloodhound himself.
Instead of simply having the current visibility effect, Bloodhound could enter a kind of “blood hunt” state where he becomes completely invisible to enemies, somewhat similar to Mirage’s invisibility, but with an important difference: every few seconds, Bloodhound would briefly become visible or reveal his position for a short moment.
This would give enemies a chance to notice and track him, especially if they are already close, while still allowing a skilled Bloodhound player to use positioning and cover to stay hidden. A good player could potentially time the visibility moments and move between cover, making the ability more about awareness and skill rather than simply giving free invisibility.
I also think there could be some interesting upgrade possibilities around this. For example, after shooting, Bloodhound could potentially regain part of the Ultimate and manually activate the invisibility again, but only a limited number of times per Ultimate. Having to press an additional button and having a clear limit could give the ability a higher skill ceiling without making it too easy to abuse.
Another smaller idea would be an upgrade for Bloodhound’s tactical ability. After scanning multiple enemies, Bloodhound could choose one scanned enemy as a priority target and keep that target tracked for a little longer. It would fit his identity as a hunter and give players another interesting choice to make.
Of course, these are just ideas, and I’m not saying that this is necessarily the right solution. I just really enjoy playing Bloodhound and would love to see him have a stronger identity and a little more presence in higher-level gameplay.
I think the current rework is a good step, and I’d be really happy if the team could take some inspiration from ideas like these for future changes.
Thanks for reading, and thank you for the new season and all the work you put into Apex.
Have a great week!
