Can we talk about how bad Rev's New tactical is?
Not going to lie here, it's a really bad tactical. Now this discussion isn't about using the tactical with his ultimate, but only the tactical itself.
My first gripe is that unless the tactical is fully charged, it's borderline useless; the skill when partially charged doesn't allow Revenant to travel far enough to warrant using it for anything other than engaging a fight. That means you can't use it to get a quick reposition in the middle of a fight, you can't use it as a quick escape, and you can't use it to gain height advantage. And to be fair, I believe that was the only purpose for the tactical, to get in front of the enemies face and start a fight. However, the next problem is that Revenant can't attack while in flight. Until Revenant lands on his feet, he can't shoot or pull out his gun, which makes Revenant a sitting duck.
Another issue is how lackluster the ability is compared to other champions with similar mobility, aka Vantage. But this doesn't mean Vantage should get nerfed, it just means that Rev's tactical is just a really bad boot leg copy of it.
Also the cooldown always seems to default to 23 seconds even when travelling a short distance with the tactical. Instead, they should've done it like pathfinder's tactical cooldown, which is reduced when travelling shorter distances.
I'd personally preferred it if Rev's tactical was something similar to Maeve's from Paladins, which travels a short distance, has two charges, but any collision causes damage to the enemy.
If I was to change Rev's Tactical, it would be like this:
- Rev's cooldown is based on the distance traveled
- The tactical has two charges that allow Rev to travel medium distances, or if Rev charges up the tactical, he consumes both charges and travels a long distance
- Rev can attack or heal while in flight
- Whenever Rev collides with something, he causes a small area of effect around him knocks nearby players upwards (or it slow, or silences players; whichever one is least game breaking, don't pick all three).
