I honestly can't say if it is negative or positive. I do know that caustic was quite op, so part of me wants to feel the nerf on his gas is a good thing.
I've seen a few mentions about people now just being able to easily destroy the tanks. They didn't seem that hard to destroy in the first place so I fail to see how that is a valid argument. Maybe it's just easier to destroy them at doors then, when someone used to have to use grenades, an ability, or risk a lot of damage to break the doors before?
On the negative side it seems caustic has lost his ability to be able to camp. Which I'm finding hard to see as negative, the only reason it would be is because now your team's ability to effectively hold themselves up in a building has been slightly diminished. And if that's really what people are upset about, then I find it silly.
I also see a lot mentioned about his lack of damage reducing buffs? I feel as a defensive legend, he should probably have one of some kind. Maybe a bit more resistance to flames? I wouldn't go as far as saying immune but a resistance sounds nice.
Caustic's gas is either way still yucky and I'd prefer to not be in it as I still see it as unneeded damage.
@XxColdFangxX Firstly Caustic was never OP as a character. He was exceptional and defending/attacking small buildings, ok at ambushes, and game breaking when the final ring chimes in. The only debatably OP thing about him was his endgame play which wasn't nerfed at all.
We also will disagree about our viewpoint of camping. I dislike camping but have a passionate hatred for rushers especially when they don't communicate. Caustic screws over brain dead rushers and annoys competent aggressive players. I was quite happy to see overly aggressive idiots punished by the gas man and dislike the favoritism of aggressive play over defensive play.
All that said this was probably a necessary nerf for Control to exist even if its exceptionally bad for BR.

As a single nerf, I think making active caustic traps destroyable is a good idea. However the issue I have with this nerf is that it's stacked on top of several previous nerfs. If this was the only downside to caustic traps, I'd be all for it, but when you combine it with the fact that deploying a trap can instantly be destroyed by a stray bullet, and shooting the base of inactive traps automatically disarms the trap, I feel like it's too much.

Respawn has destroyed every single defensive aspect of the game..supposedly you have support legends, medic, mobile ones, defensive. Well that's not the case.. reapawn tries to make the game as much simple as it can be to attract more players.. that means no strategy but a run and gun game. In older days you had to have a strategy to attack a building with a caustic inside
You had to have a strategy to fight to counter lifeline shield.. you had to have a strategy to fight a wraith..nowadays is just how to shoot for dummies

Caustic nerf was bad it needs some back.
- it’s way too easy to destroy deployed traps now. Maybe 300 hp would be enought 150 hp is not. Basically enemy would need to empty its mag to get trought so 1-0,5 sec extra time to destroy trap. Also add 1 second longer gas lingering time when trap is destroyed. So total 2-1,5 sec extra time in general to get trought compared to current. Still a lot shorter time than before and barres are destroyable.
- Remove friendly fire damage to traps, currently if you activate your trap you remove hp from it. You should activate it but not to do damage.
- Change trap bottom color. Red ones should be enemy traps and yours should be green or yellow.
- Give caustic also passive indicator if trap is shot/damaged and better indicator if trap is activated.
So caustic would be bit more active than old one was. It would lose invincible traps, but gain longerlasting activated traps if not destroyed.
