Caustic Changes/Suggestions

Hello,

I've been playing Caustic for a number of matches now and while I like the Idea of his Kit I feel it could use some changes.

To Begin:

Nox Vision

- I feel Nox Vision only comes in handy when your opponent is boxed in with nowhere to run. Opponents know to avoid and get out of Caustic's gas ASAP. With this in mind I'll frequently find that my traps will trigger and I'll have no vision of my enemy. Whether they've been tripped by being shot or through movement notwithstanding. I feel this ability could be more useful if the "tracking" debuff component lingered, if only for a moment. Just a 2-3 second debuff to give Caustic a glimpse as to where the enemy ran off to. It makes sense logically too, corrosive chemicals in a gas form would likely stick to clothing and skin upon exposure.

Nox Gas Trap

-Currently, I tend to use the Gas Traps less as a damaging anti-infantry trap and more as a tripwire alarm if that makes sense. Becuase of their low damage as eluded to above I like to use them for pinpointing enemies moving in on my position more than anything. Whether or not this is how the team intended them to be used I feel it would help if a UI prompt were added when a gas trap goes off. Similar to Junkrat's trap in Overwatch if you're familiar.

-I also feel the appearance of the trap should be changed. I don't understand why the trap itself needs to resemble a balloon, a simple bright yellow land mine is more than sufficient for players to watch out for and this would also solve the issue of them barricading doors which seems like an unintended feature to me. (As an side that could be an idea for a new Legend, a barricade centered character.)

-An additional note, or perhaps bug report is I've frequently had my traps triggered by enemies walking past them through a window which seems like a bug to me.

I feel his Ultimate is fine, with the note that the Nox Vision lingering debuff effect the ability as mentioned above.

  • I really like the idea for the lingering vision on enemies, however I really like that they block doors, if you are smart about it you can make some buildings "almost" impenetrable. (until more people learn you can blow up doors with grenades) 

    I understand why they made the mines big and disarm-able, the problem is that everyone in the game knows to shoot the base of the mine and it will destroy it. It only has 1 hp so its instant and doesn't give any warning to the caustic player unless they are watching that mine specifically, and see that it is now instantly gone. Why not make the base have 100HP or something so that it takes a few seconds and bullets to kill it. Also make it so that the caustic player gets a warning (like when Symmetra's turrets get killed in Overwatch) 

  • I agree the the gas should give a debuff that allows a few more seconds of "Nox Vision" and/or a Damage over time effect so at least you could see damage numbers popping up and know their general direction.

    I also agree that the barrels should have more HP.
