caustic's trap discoveries on the Testing Range
So ive been testing on the range a bit on caustic to see how i could use the gastrap trigger system to maximum effect, and i found that it kind of bugs out a bit often, sometimes it never triggers even when the dummy is in range, and sometimes it then only triggers when i move or place another gastrap. there is also a case that when i place another gastrap while the dummy is in gas, it won't ever trigger. or if i stack three on the dummy that dont trigger only two go off when i move the dummy by hitting it.
i do realise that the traps wont trigger if there is an object obstructing the base of the trap from making line of sight with the dummy so its not that they wont trigger for that reason, in fact tiny rocks on the ground can prevent the trap from triggering.
i found one of the reasons, if you placed your trap when there was no enemy, so if the dummy was dead or you placed the trap on top of the targets and it bounced down on the dummy, and the dummy is stationary, the trap will not trigger, only when the dummy is moved.
- the traps and grenade have a radious of 8 meters and can weave around cover and objects but only on a 8 meter leash.
- the traps trigger when someone is within a 2 meter radious from the trap this range is also on a leash from the trap.
another bug ive heard a lot about is the gas grenade disapearing on landing, obviously this is extremely frustrating. this happend to me once, only in the biggest building on fuel depo. but my friend who mains caustics reports this often. (i myself rarely play caustic so i have little experience with this bug)
and then there is the sliding gas traps, theres many clips of that on youtube, i haven't looked too much into that.
