Cross Play and Matchmaking
The way matchmaking works is stupid. So, if you're on PC you match with other PC players - regardless of input. Due to more hardcore players being on PC, the difficulty on this platform is far higher. Console players then matchmake with other console players - which means most players will be using a controller, but there is a small chance they could be using a keyboard and mouse. When console players are in a lobby with PC players, these console players will be in PC lobbies - regardless of how many console players there are and overall skill level.
Platform matchmaking is really stupid, and after switching to PC I really don't want to play Apex anymore due to the sheer diffculty of the games. And don't tell me to "practice" or "get good" - I want to play Apex casually and want to have an equal experience to everybody else playing the game. My console friends shouldn't have to be frustrated when I join their lobbies because they have to adjust to playing against mouse players, and I shouldn't have to adjust to having to use a mouse against all the other sweats using one.
For now, until the obvious issues are fixed, input matchmaking at the very most may be neccesary. The "issues" I mentioned before, to list a few, are:
- Significantly higher accuracy
- Moving while looting
- Tap strafing
- Basically no recoil when controlled well with a mouse
- Invincibility (that's just a joke but it's honestly way too common 😅)
- Other ridiculous movement abilities - there are too many to count
Either remove these, significantly nerf them and/or port them to controllers. I'm sick of the ridiculous skill ceiling in just normal casual lobbies.
Another issue is matchmaking times. While I can watch my friends have fun in Three Strikes I literally cannot play as the highest number of players in the PC queue I can see is fifteen (Sydney servers). Also I can't play Duos. Ever. Nobody plays it on Sydney PC servers.
When these issues are fixed, and the PC community stops having a tantrum over it, merge controller and keyboard lobbies together. I and everybody else should be a part of this community, rather being seperated into two different groups barking at each other. Hopefully one day mouse players will stop raging at aim assist and controller players will stop getting frustrated when they get jumped by a skilled mouse player, at least with most of these issues fixed.
