Developer: Aim Assistance Temperature Check

There are only 18 mouse and keyboard professionals left. The rest of the Mouse and Keyboard professionals have swapped to controller because aim assistance on the controller over tuned and oppressive. The software needs a nerf.

“Apex Legends developer John ‘
JayBiebs’ Larson, who is a controller player himself, is fully aware of the advantages that aim assist brings to the table. He said, “When I see top-level controller players saying they would be alright with nerfing aim assist, I definitely take note. Players should not feel forced to use a specific input type, and if I see players converting out of what they think is necessity, I would 100% be concerned. In fact, I’m meeting with CGE, weapons, and analytics teams this week to take a temperature reading on the situation.

I agree with the statement. Mouse and keyboard players should not be forced to swap but they do feel they need to swap and are swapping because of aim assistance. So here’s the temperature check. THERE ARE ONLY 18 PRO MNK PLAYERS LEFT.

  • The analytics results were never shared with the community. It would be great if a developer or EA forum rep can reply to this thread with the results and start being transparent with the community in regards to aim assistance.

I really like how you packaged that to make it look like a current temp check.

I guess that the check was made and all is fine.

Next time lets compare apples with oranges.

  • @Tspin Yep this is pretty sad , guess we'll have controller only ALGS and it's gonna be pathetic to watch just like the last one.

I can confirm it was horrible to watch. Aim assistance diminished any skill investment into the  game. It always comes back poor developer insight and priority. Fixing aim assistance will make the game healthy. Fights would be more balanced. The game would be great to play and spectate if every clip wasn't an aim assisted one clip.

T1 organizations will never reinvest until meaningful changes happen to aim assistance. If anybody new player can pick up a controller and occasionally out aim a pro apex legends will always be seen as a liability to then. The aim assistance is a cancer to the game and the in game culture. Anybody who has a drop of competitive integrity in their blood can tell Apex Legends is not worth the investment until the developers fbalance the overpowered aim assistance on pc controller.

On PC is the key. Nobody cares about console.

  • Each platform has its benefits but when start nerfing console players to placate pc players you'll lose more players than you already are, movement and looting along with long range is far superior for pc than console, the small aim assist difference helps make up for some of that, if you want to make everything equal on all platforms then all these controller players are going back to pc, an example of not thinking things through is the new shields rework, really good players are gonna dominate lobbies to the point that new players or casual average players are gonna get destroyed and they aren't gonna want to play.  Why would they, as someone who has played since the beginning i want apex to flourish but it seems like you are either bending to the vocal few or just throwing everything against the wall and hoping something sticks. I could be and hope I'm wrong but I got a feeling some of these changes are gonna kill off half the player base and keep new players from sticking with apex because they are getting destroyed every game and nerfing smgs along with aim assist and shields all for the benefit of a small percentage of the player base is not gonna go over well, hope I'm wrong but it reminds me of the 300 dollar heirloom,  just not a good decision.  Thanks guys and we will see. Have a good one, see you in the game.
