@peraasd The thing is there are several issues in Apex Legends. Some of which I have openly criticized and keep on criticizing.
So, let's take punching for example. It has been criticized widely for two reasons. For one, people dislike being drop-punched to death basically right after entering the official gameplay. It usually takes 5 seconds and you're dead. Quality gameplay unparalleled by any other game! Secondly, punching throws off your aim. So even if you end up with a weapon, you'll still be punched to death because you can't hit. Here I'm not saying punching should be removed, but punching should be adjusted in such a way that you still carry downsides like literally any other weapon. I have no issues keeping up with someone and punching him to death while he's running away at the highest possible speed he can achieve. Not just is this bad, this means that the attacker who lands the first punch will always win.
Next is the matchmaking. Yesterday I was paired with someone who has been around since season 1, has every top-tier badge, has several million damage dealt, several tens and thousands of kills and carried me through the entirety of the match. We won, and the difference was me dealing 500 damage and him dealing 3.500 damage. So why am I considered equal? Give me people that I can work with, and not people that work for me or people I have to work for. Can it really be this hard? It's even worse when you have a voidwalker wraith with battlepass R-99 skin and god-tier aim that shreds you like there is zero - and I mean zero work attached to it.
Next, the legends. What legends do I chose? Rampart, Crypto, Fuse. What Legends do the majority of players use? Octane, Valkyrie, Lifeline. I'm basically the anti-meta at this point. And I'm being punished for it. So what if I don't have the mobility? I surely have some other abilities that back-up my cause, right? Well, I have a wall that can block damage from one direction for a very short amount of time. One that can be bypassed at any time. I mean surely this ability is on-par with a speed-boost or flight ability, right? I can surely spin my wall very fast and copter away or slide down a hill with it.
Knockdown shields. Is it white, blue or purple? Worthless. Is it gold? Welcome to TheHunted(tm) People can kill you before you can even activate your knockdown shield. Very flawed game design but hey, what do I know, I'm just the consumer being annoyed by this. And since everyone shoots you immediately after dropping, you have no choice but to activate your golden knockdown shield that has neon-signs on it saying "Please use a finisher on me and disrespect me in every way possible so I ragequit the game and ask myself the question why I'm still playing this game."
Evo-shields. It's not rare that I see someone being one minute into the game and run around with a red evo-shield already. Jesus, I remember when Evo-shields were new. When they were an optional choice. When the red evo shield was a high reward you can have. Now everyone can have it. What about the previous body shields? They're not really there anymore. So why are they still in the game? I preferred the previous system when we had normal body shields and you had to level up the evo-shield from zero to full.
Loot distribution. I enter a building and I find what? High-quality P2020, prime equipment for any predator. Wonderful Mozambique that can easily outclass any LMG, AR or SMG in the game. What do my enemies find? EVA-8, shredder of worlds. R-99, the hailstorm of bullets. Spitfire, the neverending tale of pain. Dude, just give me an Alternator or something, I don't care. Give me a weapon I can work with and stand a chance with, and stop giving my enemies all the good stuff and I'm running on barebones. I honestly feel like the P2020 and Mozambique are more for Arenas.
Weapon type balancing. You pick an R-301 and you're set for close-, mid- and long-range combat. You take a sniper/marksman and you're set for dying. You take a shotgun with a mobility based character and you'll ruin the life of many people who face you. Shotguns are too good for what they are, most assault rifles outclass any long range weapon because all you need for pinpoint accuracy is a bit of recoil control, which for some weapons is so much easier than it should be. Meanwhile, the essential weapon type for any shooter - namely snipers and marksman weapons - are completely left out for viability. And I'm not talking about the few exceptions of people who can consistently land headshots in hipfire with snipers in close combat. Honestly those people are playing too much eitherway.
Mobility and map size. You can go from one combat hotspot to another combat hotspot in very few seconds. Especially with Valkyrie, this has become a breeze. And this will never change because "The game has been designed this way" - Yes, but we also see how many issues this brings up. Third parties happen way too often, may it be you third-partying, or others third-partying you. And can you blame them? It's more rewarding than taking two squads on yourself. To be fair, sometimes ultra instinct seems to kick in and you suddenly dodge everything and hit everyone with pinpoint precision. And after the fight you take a sip from your glass and spill half of your water because you're shaking so much. I wish that was always the case.
The prime issue with Apex Legends is that it could be improved in so many aspects to be more enjoyable to the casual player or players with certain play styles. Apex Legends is far from the first game I've ever played, and some experiences from other games can easily be carried over and considered for implementation/adjustment. But this won't happen due to three reasons. Reason number one, I have yet to see a common complaint being catered towards. Reason two, most top-tier players - instead of understanding that some issues are persistent in Apex Legends - will always tell people to adjust or something. Yes, for a good player most of these things won't be an issue. But for casuals they are. And reason three, this is sadly what encourages people to play. The hope for better results.
If some of these issues were at least actively being worked on, like the matchmaking for instance, the game could be so much better for the casual branch of players. I can see this every time I play with low level players. Some of them write in the chat how frustrating it is for them that they're paired with top-tier players. And when I tell them that I'm not even remotely close to being good, they just quit. To me it's just a sign how critical the state of the matchmaking really is.
