Falling off map costs the same as quitting?
I was playing a rank game, we hot drop at lightning rod I think near Zeus station in stormpoint. My teammate lands on the same pill as me so I leave looking for another gun there's enemies all around...

Not sure what happened in your game but for me I got double RP penalty only when **bleep** server errors came up and kicked me out of the game -> after saying I can't reconnect to match due to forfeit.
Just yesterday got matched with some super toxic soloq players / duos -> I basically always teach them a lesson by giving them chance to prove how good they are without a 3rd teammate = dropping of the map. Not in one game I did it yesterday I got a penalty :) just whatever my teammates ended up cooking for us as team.
Yeah they were toxic teammates I had the previous game, one of them didn't like that I looted a death box he got the kill on as we were still fighting and I just needed a different weapon landed on a 3030 and single mozam did no other looting so was running low on ammo I had 1 kill 4 assists with 600 damage lol he said I didn't deserve that loot. Next game we got matched together and he landed on the pill I was going for and I let him have it instead of fighting. I have lost double rp before only due to server or game crashing never to falling off map so thought it was strange and in this specific situation ridiculous seeing as I fell because the ridiculous loba bracelet animation and couldn't grab zipline. Not really mad about the rp TBH but more mad about the state loba is in and just want the ability to call my bracelet back instead of having to wait for years.
Yeah Loba is decent but this bracelet mechanics sometimes bite you in the **bleep** as you accidentally throw it into some weird spot that can't be thrown at...you get stuck in animation and need to wait like 2-3 seconds before it returns.
Yet far from biggest issue in the game so I am not complaining :D
