Fine Tune Controller Sensitivity and Deadzone Without ALC
Hi. I play Apex on controller (it’s my only option on console, calm down) and I think there could be some easy fixes that could greatly improve the controller experience.
The the easiest solutions in my opinion are things that already exist in the game: an ability to fine tune the deadzone, and a bigger scale to adjust sensitivity on. These settings both already exist within the Advanced Look Controls, however it would be great if they were also options outside of ALC.
Let me describe in more detail what I mean.
For sensitivity: the scale is way too small, only ranging from 1-8. This means every time you go up or down a sensitivity your sensitivity changes by 12.5%. I have played on 4-3 linear, small deadzone, for most of my time on Apex. However, I am not totally satisfied with this sens. In my opinion, 4 is a little too slow, but 5 is way to fast. A 4.5 option would be perfect. With ALC I can achieve this, however, then there are way too many options. With ALC, the scale is from 1-500, meaning every increment is only a 0.2% change. It is great that this is an option, but now the scale is too big, and there are a whole host of other settings that I don’t know how to use. I think the best solution is how Call of Duty does it: a scale from 1-20. This is the perfect range of sensitivity in my opinion, because you only increment by 5% every time. This allows users to very easily adjust their sensitivity, to find what works best for them.
For deadzone:
Again like I said earlier, I play on 4-3 linear, small deadzone. I really love the linear feel, however in addition to the sensitivity, I am not completely satisfied with the deadzone option. I really can’t stand the stick drift with no deadzone, so I generally play on a small deadzone. However, with the small deadzone I feel limited or handicapped in a way, because now my aim is not as responsive. I would really like the ability to find tune this. Again this is an option in ALC. Using ALC, I find I only need a 0.05 deadzone to eliminate my controller stick drift. But again, I have to also adjust all the other hundred settings in order to use ALC.
My proposed solution:
Put the sensitivity on a scale of around 20, and add the fine tuning deadzone option to the non-ALC controller settings.
I think these are two easy fixes that will make the Apex controller experience much much better. Thank you.
