Is the playerbase really so small that the first match in diamond IV I should be matched up against the top 200 predators? I regularly go up against full stacked masters / predators and i'm solo queuing Diamond IV. How does that at all make sense?

I actually think it is (so small that is). Sometimes I have to wait 5 minutes to get a Diamond game on EU, and a friend from Brazil who also is Diamond says its virtually impossible to get a ranked sometimes. And I think this creates a domino effect; Diamond 4 players get smashed in every game by Predators which makes them feel hopelessness to progress in ranked which leads them to abandon ranked or start smurfing in Bronze (like Shroud that silly man) which leads to even less Diamond players. The entire Apex ranked system is a mess imao.

@S8N_Spawn#1) As of ranked series 1 Apex Predator was the top 0.2% in the world and Diamond was the 2.1% following that. There is still a discrepancy in that if I get top 0.1% of the world almost every single match.#2) The players that I do want to invite have invites disabled. So I guess I have found ones I want to invite, but cant. I don't believe i'm that picky to be honest. I expect them to actually comm, stick with their team, be decently good at team fighting / shooting, and know how to rotate / not run in by themselves. Pretty reasonable at Diamond rank if you ask me.#3) I understand its not a solo game, in that case, a mic should be a REQUIREMENT not something that is optional in ranked TBH. They also need to have a better ranked system than what is currently in place. You cant use the ping system in Diamond and expect a perfect flow with proper comms. Its just not adequate enough. As such, when i'm getting matched up against predators they should at least have the decency to always put other Diamonds on my team. I should NEVER see a Plat IV on my team. Maybe a Plat 1 while at Diamond IV, but not a Plat IV.#4) This isn't a "me" issue, but thats fine if you think it is. I have never played a game besides apex where I get matched with such a diverse playerbase. In Rocket League as a Champion, I would see a Grand Champion ONCE in a blue moon. It was rare. Apex? Top 100-200 pred almost every single lobby. ( I get it, there are much more players per lobby, but still pretty screwed. ).

@Apathy1337 There aren't that many skilled enough players to even REACH diamond, and those that do probably aren't playing all the time for fear of dropping. Considering they only have what, 500 predator positions, Diamond is the only rank there will be a pool of players in that they'll even be able to go up against. It makes sense, there is absolutely no way there will ever be a match full of nothing but predators, and the Diamond ranks probably don't have more than a couple thousand in them.

@Apathy1337 Yeah it doesnt make much sense. Pretty sure ive seen people ranked 5k+ as apex preds last season so basically there are more apex preds than diamond players? Its just hard to believe all the diamond players were good enough to get into masters and left us stragglers to fight for our livesit even gave me a fricken gold on my team while i was in diamond. you cant duo with golds as a diamond but the matchmaking system will gladly put one on your team while you face against top 100 preds. the skill gap between plat 1 and diamond 4 is just too insane in my opinion. its a completely different world

@S8N_Spawn My issue is that I can easily solo queue to Diamond. But once I get into Diamond, its virtually impossible to continue to play. I never find teammates worth a damn to even invite. They all play alone, split, don't use mics, its absolutely insane. Sometimes they are even as low as Plat IV, its kinda crazy. Lmao.

Yeah the current system makes it practically impossible to win fights / matches as a solo queue Diamond.If I was diamond 1 / 2 i'd understand going up against masters / potentially predators. Not only am I going up against TSoonami, Apryze, ItzTimmy, etc. but I get people that are sometimes as low as Plat IV on my team and go up against full stacked preds. How is that logical at all? This game is going so far downhill its insane. I literally can't wait for Project A at this point. If they don't do something now, the entire competitive scene is going to die.

@BabbediboopiIts dumb because Plat is EZ for me to grind through as a solo but the second I play Diamond its almost impossible to rank up as a solo. You literally get awful teammates who split, don't comm, die, and then you are stuck ratting for a placement by yourself unable to take any fights and then you get some dumb small amount of RP like +20 and that gets destroyed with one early death. Its stupid. Also, love the name lol.

@Apathy1337 Weeeeeelllll, consider a few things,

#1 "easily solo queue to Diamond", congrats!! You're in the top 20% (maybe 15% or as high as 10%) of all players (over 70 mil last I read).

#2 "never find teammates worth a damn to invite" well, on this one I have to disagree, I've never reached Diamond solo queue or not (sniffed it by about 200 RP), but have met far better players than me to invite on several occasions. Maybe you're just too picky? I'm an excellent support teammate (not in the Lifeline type of support, but more like, great vision, good call outs, good tactics, just not the greatest skill) that if I have 1 better player than me on my squad then I feel like I can win any match.

#3 THIS IS NOT A SOLO GAME.... until they permanently add solos, understand you're going to teamup with 2 randy's unless you start making friends. Sorry not sorry, it's just the way the game is.

#4 Because of everything above, there is absolutely NO reason Respawn/EA need to change anything about the game to cater to YOU.

@Apathy1337 #1 Alright, so you're in the top 2.3%, and probably closer to the high end on that too since you're not going in with a full squad. Seeing how it's a lot smaller than what I thought (2.3% <<<<<< 20%), you're not going to have a large pool of players to get match up with. You're going to see that full range of 2.3% (and us struggling plats more often on your squad since, well, you're going in solo) a TON because there won't be every one of them playing all the time on all servers.

#2 I get that, just means you'll need to send out more invites. Trust me, I know how you feel, I play 80-90% of the time solo, but I understand it's going to be a crapshoot of randy's on my squad. And I fully expect anyone outside of Bronze IV to get the basics of the game like you said, but I'm just happy if I get on a squad not in a private chat that can at least hear my call outs and throw out a helpful ping, it's the life of a soloist in apex.

#3 Although I agree, I've grumbled quite a few "if you only had a eff'n mic you could've told me _____" while playing, but again, going in solo you have to expect it. The game isn't going to match you up with people with mic's (although... I wonder if that could?) or with people that use good comms, it's only going to match you up with someone in your skill range or rank range.

#4 I think your expectations are a bit high. You're one of the best players in the game whether you want to admit it or not, maybe not as good as the predators, but by your stats, there aren't many people the game can match you up with OR against. I'm guessing most in your rank are going in with full 3 man squads, you'll be lucky getting any of the top 0.2% on your squad going in solo and will most likely go up against full squads of them.

@S8N_SpawnExpectations of getting decent teammates and not being thrown into a lobby with multiple 10+ hour a day squads every single lobby is too high of an expectation on a game that has "70 million" players? Lolwut.
Also, I expect that there is ways to fix these issues. Such as in regions with not many players, match solo diamonds against high plat full stacks. Pretty reasonable. In regions like NA, like where I am, if my matches took an extra couple minutes to get better matches I wouldnt give a ❤️❤️❤️❤️. The point is its impossible to get better when you get instakilled by a pred squad. They want to "protect the noobs" in pubs with SBMM, but then throw solo queue diamonds into the wolves and tell em to screw off. Its really misguided.
Obviously the game is dying, because 2% of 70 million is 1,400,000. Lets assume that console and pc are a 50/50 split. so where are the other 750,000 diamonds? Oh thats right, they got off the game because its screwed in ranked and ranked lite and are waiting for Project A ( like me ). Oh well, Project A will be the savior.
