I must admit that I'm not the biggest fan of voice capture. I think it infringes on "freedom of speech". Additionally, most players will not change thier toxic behavior even with the technology in place, resulting in a lot of players being disciplined and, possibly, banned.
However, voice capture can be used as a great reporting tool. That's undeniable.
I used to play H1Z1 on PS4 back in 2018. I noticed that when I captured game recordings the game's voice chat was included. If this function is available in H1Z1 it should, most definitely, be an option for Apex in 2026. Players can easily clip thier game recording and submit it to EA/Respawn for review. That's the easiest and most simplistic option.
I think it's extremely important that when ideals and solutions are shared on this forum that we don't use it as a moment of constant debate.
I'm going to recommend what the solutions are whether it's liked or not. For example, if you need to take a dump it's best to find a toilet. š¤·āāļø
Whatever game you're referring to, quite frankly, I don't care. š¤·āāļø
The fact is that other popular F2P video games do have an official Discord and market it in-game. For example, Marvel Rivals. It's 2026, stop making excuses. It's a reason humanity will be so dependent on A.I., for some odd reason we're just so bad at decision-making.
If you don't have evidence to back up your claims then it's best not to challenge the facts that I present. š šÆ
Iāve noticed that youāre championing Discord a lot as a solution to poor teamwork and Iām happy that your experience with this service is so positive. Mine isnāt. Recently Iāve decided to play Big Walk, a co-op only puzzle game. I didnāt have anyone to play with, so I went to gameās Discord and looked there for partners whenever I had time. I was posting āplaying the game for the first time, done this, looking for a teammate, this is the lobby codeā message, waiting for someone to join, then deleting my message to indicate that Iām no longer looking for anyone.
During one of the sessions the person Iāve played with needed to leave soon after weāve started. Iāve decided to take a break as well, but when Iāve tried to end the session, Iāve got a warning that there are other players in the game. What the hell, I havenāt invited anyone. Iāve ended the session, and when Iāve returned next time, Iāve discovered that several puzzles Iāve never seen are now solved. Basically, a group of people saw my post, written down my lobby code, waited for a bit, then joined when I was already away from the starting area and went on inputting answers to the puzzles. Big Walk is a chill cooperative game, yet some folks decided that it would be fun to ruin someoneās first-time experience. And Discord was the enabling tool of this behavior.
My point: Discord isnāt a magic bullet. Respawn is surely aware of its existence (there is an official ALGS Discord, and by the way, Iāve seen people being difficult even there), so if they've decided to not have an official server, thereās probably a reason for that.
P.S. Discord will make voice capturing for scolding purposes impossible, so it's either or.
Obviously, if voice capture is added to Apex, players who violate TOS will face discipline and, possibly, bans.
Personally, I disagree with disciplining and/or banning players for minor offenses. What constitutes a major offense that leads to disciplinary action and/or bans? I'm not a TOS guru, so I don't know. Although, I do know that players are needed in order for matchmaking to be healthy and robust.
Overall, EA/Respawn need to do a better job with promoting a more positive community. Mainly by using Social Networking Tools (Party Finder voice chat, Global Text chat, Revamped Previous Player Log, Revamped Clubs, etc.). If implementing these features is too hard of a developmental task then simply create and promote an official Apex Legends Discord server. š¤·āāļø Or promote the current community run Discord server in-game.
Furthermore, players need to play their role with helping EA/Respawn to meet these goals by being more positive during their gaming sessions and understand that gaming is just for fun. Players also need to use the current game options and services that will offer a better gaming experience.
For example, sending friend requests and game invites, using the Stay with Squad requeue feature, and utilizing the community run Apex Legends Discord server.
Players need to hold themselves accountable for not using the current Social Networking Tools if their gaming experience expectations aren't being met. To often the community is requesting EA/Respawn to discipline other players.
I believe that players who cheat, through gaming exploits, should receive the highest disciplinary action above all. That's where I stand. Everything else is a slippery slope.
