What are Heirloom cosmetics?
Heirloom cosmetics are very rare and sweet cosmetic sets you can purchase with Heirloom shards (They are about 16 times rarer than Legendaries). There are currently five Heirloom sets in the game for Wraith, Bloodhound, Lifeline, Pathfinder and Octane. Each set contains an Intro Quip, Banner Pose and Melee Weapon.
How do I get Heirloom Shards?
Whenever you open an Apex Pack you have a <1% to draw a bonus Heirloom Shard pack, containing a total of 150 Heirloom Shards (enough to purchase one Heirloom Set). It is very popularly believed that your chance increases the more packs you open but this is not true. Your chances of pulling an Heirloom Shard pack will remain as <1% however if you have opened 499 packs with no luck, you are guaranteed to draw shards on your 500th pack.
So, if you want an Heirloom set guaranteed and with no grinding you'll have to spend $500 on 500 Apex Packs. Insanely expensive for three cosmetics but thankfully they provide no competitive advantage.
Common Misconception
I've already said this but some people believe that the more packs you open, your chance increases from 1 in 500 to 2 in 500 etc. until the 500th pack which is guaranteed.
This not true. Your chance will remain the same until your 500th pack where it is guaranteed.
