I lost fifty Exotic Shards

In May 2024, I recharged with Exotic Shards. After that, I still had sixty Exotic Shards left unused. But now I find that fifty Exotic Shards in my account are missing. This is very bad for me because I haven't logged in to the game for a while, so I don't know exactly which day I lost it. I haven't used it. I need help to get my stuff back. Please。

  • MIzihOo  Like what at XHelperZ had said, players in Japan do face currency expiration after 180 days. However, if you're not currently residing in Japan, then there's two possible reasons I can think of as to why your Exotic Shards had expired.

    1) Your EA Account is registered to Japan.

In order to change your country/region, go to https://myaccount.ea.com, login, and then under the "About Me" tab, go down to where it says "Regional Settings", and then click on "Edit". Lastly, find the country/region you currently reside in, and set it to your country/region if its currently set to Japan.

    2) You were on one of Japan's Datacenters when you had bought/earned the currency.

Note: This may not be the reason why the currency had expired, but I've heard from other players that they had lost currency only when they were on datacenters that were in Japan when the currency was bought and/or earned.

After checking to make sure your account is set to the right region, (and making sure you're not connected to a datacenter in Japan when you buy/earn currency), be sure to check your currency wallet as currency that will expire will show up similar to this:

Your wallet will look different than what is displayed here, as this is a picture of the old wallet layout.

If it doesn't say any currency will expire, (and you still have Apex Coins and/or Exotic Shards), then you should be good.

Note: If your account was registered to Japan and/or playing on the Japan datacenters was the cause, then any currency that was previously bought/earned may still face expiration as per Japan's laws.

Lastly, a bit of bad news:

Any currency that expires cannot be restored or refunded as the only way currency would expire in the first place, would be if the player's account/currency was subjected to Japan's laws in any way. As such, it would be illegal for EA to restore any expired currency, (and refunding it won't be possible either).

Note: EA Support also won't be able to restore any expired currency.

Hello,Thank you for answering me. I'm not Japanese, and I don't live in Japan, so I'm also confused as to why I lost them, and I can't accept that this thing will disappear if I buy a Exotic Shards and don't use it. It's very frustrating.

  • Heya,

    Are you from Japan?
If so, there is a law in there limiting purchased in-game content, causing them to expire after a certain period of time. (I don't know the exact details of this law, I just know that it exists from what I have heard)
This is also highlighted in the EA Terms of Service under section 3. Content and Entitlements:

EA Virtual Currency has no monetary value and has no value outside of our products and services. EA Virtual Currency cannot be sold, traded, transferred, or exchanged for cash; it only may be redeemed for Entitlements available for the EA Service. EA Virtual Currency is non-refundable, and you are not entitled to a refund for any unused EA Virtual Currency. Once you redeem EA Virtual Currency for an Entitlement, that Entitlement is not returnable, exchangeable, or refundable. If you live in Japan, you agree to use any EA Virtual Currency within 180 days from the date of purchase.

If 180 days have passed since the purchase, then the purchased currency can expire and be removed from your account.
From what I understand, nothing can be done to really go around this, as EA/Respawn must implement this per law and therefore cannot circumvent this.
