Personally I don't mind any of it. The graphics or visual effects are literally part of the game mechanics in that you can consider they are intended to obscure your ability to target the enemy.

Isn't it strange that the shield has the effect of reducing the opponent's visibility?
Other problems include the fact that abilities and ults that have visibility-inhibiting effects may do more than hide the desired location, making it impossible for some people to see the entire screen.
Horizon's ulto pulls the screen all the way in, but for some people, that makes it impossible to see everything around them.
It can also make a big difference in the playing environment.
If there are a lot of effects, the lower the frame rate, the harder it is for people in lower play environments to see. Many things appear instantaneously and dizzyingly, making the screen look like a frame-by-frame sensory experience and making it difficult to recognize the movement around you.
